Rightly so. No need to give OU a heads up on injuries. Not sure it matters a bunch but it might make OU spend time preparing DBs and linebackers for individual tendencies for a guy or two who don't actually play. I'm concerned the most about our TE situation. Allen looked like a concussion.

The best "injury story" I've ever heard involved Tom and one of his starters. An acquaintance of mine from college was the orthopedic surgeon for the team. We had a key starter hurt his neck in a game and actually fractured a vertebrae. After the surgeon told Tom that the kid had a fractured cervical vertebrae Tom asked, "so can he play Saturday?".EekLaughing For you laymen, that's a broken neck bone.

You will note that Leiwer's number of snaps relative to some other starters dropped this past Saturday as did his touches. Thank God we have some walk ons to fill holes as scholarship guys get booboos and can't play.
I've got a story about Brook's collapsed lung too but I probably shouldn't share that one. Tough kid. Could have died then if not for a very smart Dr. who evaluated him.

Oliver Martin initially walked on. He's probably our best and most talented WR. He's one of the fastest guys on the team. We play 6-8 WRs in any game. Having one walkon on the field at any given time is not going to hurt our chances of winning games especially if he's on the field primarily as a blocker. Leiwer has been called our best blocking WR. He's a possession receiver who does everything right. Geezus I don't get the hate for Leiwer. It's ludicrous.
Leiwer's snaps and targets have fallen as other guys have gotten up to speed at their position. We've got one scholarship WR who hasn't played much because he's still not 100% after having shoulder surgery right before fall camp. I don't know who is supposed to take Leiwer's snaps that we can count on to make the blocks they want made on running plays. You don't need a f'n burner to do that.
I don’t hate leiwer I just feel times have changed so much that in your skilled position players you need top athletes I’m sure he bust his *** in practice but that doesn’t translate to being productive on game day
But he has been productive on game day. First downs are important. Leiwer's problem hasn't been that he isn't fast enough or that he can't make big plays. His problem is that our QB at times can't hit open receivers. Leiwer playing is by FAR the least of our offensive worries.
well on the last "overthrow" Leiwer stopped his route. They called it out on Big Red Wrapup. Martinez threw where he SHOULD have been, and most of our other receivers would have been.
Leiwer playing at all is a symptom of the disease. I am not all that down on him, he is a non factor for the most part. His 2 catches for 13 yards isn't why we are not good.
I didn't see that. I didn't get to watch the second half of the game. Miscommunications happen between receivers and QBs. We have options I believe in our routes. It's possible that he settled in an open area and Martinez thought he would continue his route. At least he isn't looking at the sidelines trying get help presnap with where to run......Betts, Manning cough cough.
I don't believe that he want's to "run a talent based offense with less talented players". At some point a kid has to demonstrate in practice that he knows and can execute the plays. There's only so many times in the huddle where you can just tell a kid "go deep".
Agree, if you're not willing to run routes and get open , you shouldn't get playing time. Same for being able to catch tbe ball.
It was good for him to take over for Turman for the second half of that K-State game. Just the threat of Berringer throwing the ball helped open the offense, which completely stagnated after Turman "engineered" that 28-yard touchdown drive in the first quarter: Phillips for 7, Phillips for 8, Phillips for 6, Phillips for 3, Phillips for 1, Phillips for 3.
