I don't visit this site often, but I wanted to see what you guys thought. It seemed that several times when Nebraska went up tempo and started to move the ball, Indiana had a time out injury. The crowd seemed to sense it, but i have not seen anything on this site. What is the talk in Lincoln?. If, in fact, Coach Allen was pulling this stunt, it is Bush League.

Booing loudly in west stadium. Big Ten needs to investigate. It was a complete farce that Indy got away with.

I don't see what they can do about it. Can't really prove a kid isn't hurt.

the first time I remember seeing it done was when we played Illinois and Lovie Smith, they kind of done that here there. But Allen and Indiana went to the extreme with it and done that all game long. They have to find away to put a stop to it. It’s BS to take advantage of the injury deal like that just to get subs and what not done.

You can do what European soccer leagues do - four guys and stretcher run on the field, plop the player on the stretcher and haul *** to the sideline.:D

Maybe make the injured player ineligible the remainder of the possession.

I think one or two might have been fake but booing players apparently injured is not a good look.

it’s not, I agree but they where definitely faking it and the crowd sniffed it out fast. They definitely had a system down they where doing to slow down the tempo. I’d definitely say it happened more then once or twice...lol. The coaches son did it himself several times alone. And the give away was that said player was always back on the field playing just fine a play or two later.

I think the same thing, maybe the following possession as well. Would stop it from happening on 3rd down or late in a drive. And then if play is stopped twice for the same player, they have to sit out the remainder of the game for safety reasons.

The coaches kid should have been put in concussion protocol after his first flop. The play was done and he literally ran in front of the umpire and took a dive. That generally only happens when you have a head injury.

If play is stopped for an injured player, that player should be forced to sit out the next series. Coaches would receive three exceptions each half, or be forced to use a timeout if he wants the player available as soon as he can play.

If it is all about safety like they all want us to believe make injured player sit out entire series unless his team calls a timeout in that series. That way it doesn't matter if it is real injury of fake, it is for safety if real and coach wont want to call timeout on fake injury.

The one who did it most of the times was the head coaches son. Sad. Like bad news bears ‘just lean into it’
I disagree. His was legit. He never came back in after the second one. Plus he was in game pants and a sweatshirt after halftime. He was definitely in pain in his chest/shoulder area. The others.... absolutely BS. Especially the dl that came out looking like Rodney Dangerfield in caddy shack after getting hit by the golf ball in the arm

Michigan State did it several times against us in 2010, if you recall.

rules suggestion?, after halftime injured once - out for entire drive, 2nd time out for remainder of the half/ game if it's the same player and they come back during the following drive plus it costs the team a TO baby. If they sit remainder of that drive plus the next, then just remainder of that drive again. Additionally, 5th one (and all others) during the entire game on the same team/ same side of the ball (Defense) is an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty vs the bench/ coach. Coach gets 3 then he gets a 3 game suspension from the conference. or similar

This right here except no exceptions. It’s that way if a player loses his helmet. Make them use TOs and see how fast those injuries dry up

the more I think about it it say make the injured player sit out a quarter if it requires the refs to take an injury timeout... if the same player gets “injured” twice they need to sit out the rest of the game for precautionary reasons... if said injury happens while offense is going uptempo you are only allowed to sub for injured player unless you decide to spend one of your timeouts instead of using injury timeout...

Yep, Dantonio is am evil bastard too. He is done the fake injury routine on select occasions for more than a decade. A couple of teams have previously complained but the B10 has never seriously looked into it.

I’m not sure these changes would be a good thing. We’ve had guys get dinged or have the wind knocked out and I sure would want them back in ASAP

The announcers were calling it out during the game too. They showed replayed and honestly could not see where their guys were getting hurt.

Indiana used a BS tactic and it worked. It will be interesting to see if other teams use it to slow down Nebraska’s offense.

So I sat in section 21 with the Indiana crowd. Myself and a Husker fan in front of me were keeping tract of these timeouts. There were 7 !!! From what we could tell not one of these were lower body injuries. As stated above #44 did not come back in after the 2nd time. Indiana fans were appalled with the boos, I had to explain to a Indiana season ticket holder why it was occurring. They actually got more into the game after that.

I would say the player could return if EITHER team calls a timeout, not just his own team.

Even throw in there that a player may return if the drive crosses quarters. Just make it any break other than a penalty or another injury on the same drive.

Thomas Allen, the coach's son, separated his shoulder twice during the game. He is having surgery on the shoulder today, and is done for the year.

The first one was clearly to slow the game down, it was obvious he was hurt on the second. It was also obvious faking these injuries was part of the defensive game plan for IU.

well, he actually did do it twice though.
Agree. He did return after the fake injury. Just didn’t come back after the real injury.

Isn’t he the one that lined up for the next play and then just inexplicably fell over in front of the ref?

The last team that joined the Big 10 was Penn St and believe it or not they thought the refs ere against them even worse than you do. Yes teams do fake injury to slow play down and I down't like it but sh---t happens and will keep happening. Learn to win anyway.

Thank you for this. I guess.

Who was blaming the refs for this again? Must have missed that in this thread. Maybe you could reread the thread and point out the poster who is blaming the refs for Indiana taking multiple dives. I don’t see anywhere where people are calling it illegal and mad at the refs as a result. Husker fans may not like that it is allowed, but no one here blamed the refs.

The faked injuries are fake news. They are annoying, but shouldn’t be disruptive. Hell, if a team has to resort to that, wouldn’t you think you’ve got them on the run? They’re resorting to pitiful gimmicks to slow you down - step on their necks.

Nebraska lost because they played awful defense.

Don’t disagree with this. But we as fans don’t have to cheer their tactics.

Like losing a helmet. If you stop a game because of injury you are out for 15 minutes of game time. That will prevent a lot of these injuries.

But that would mean we could lose one of our guys for 15min for something small. I don't think it's worth it. If an injury is faked, the faker has to leave for the play. That seems enough.

I was listening to the road broadcast on XM radio when running to the store for the wife when the first injury that got booed occurred. The Indiana play by play guy said he wasn't surprised and the coach had mentioned to him doing it. The other guy kind of got him off topic and they dropped it, but it was telling.
