A lot of fans including myself come here every day looking for information. I am a diehard, never miss a dual type guy, so is my brother.
I rarely post because you never know the type of response you will get from the “cesspool”.
What I am saying is, it’s so very disappointing to open a thread that looks interesting, having several good comments here and there, and within short order is degenerates into arguments, who is more connected, who is wrong or right, etc.
Sure would be nice to have an Iowa wrestling board where fans can come and get information. Listen to rumors, gossip, etc. and not have to listen to the same few people argue back and forth.
I hope this site can somehow get back to the way this board used to be. Right now it is run by a handful of people that are only interested in showing who is the biggest know it all.

You have a better chance flying to Neverland. This board is simply what fanatics do. Go try a football or basketball board if you think this board is bad.

Even if you had a board designed solely for information you would have plenty arguing that the information is wrong or not good enough and they would have zero acceptance for the fact that things can, and often do, CHANGE.

For all that is said on here, you can sift through the detritus and actually find some good information if you know who has it and are able to read between the lines…

I don’t blame them for locking it up. All they see on here are the negatives. Those that benefit and like it read it and move on. At most, they click the like button. The rest constantly nitpick and wait until something changes or falls through so they can chirp incessantly.

What Gobblin went through over Spencer is the prime example. After that, why would ANYONE want to share anything close to inside info on this site without an agenda????

It's the internet. There are always going to be pricks. Expecting to be treated like a prince because you bestowed knowledge upon the mindless masses is kind of funny. Grow some skin, ignore the DBs, and enjoy the convo. This is entertainment, not serious bidness.

Regardless...it's still a largely free country. Do what you like. You don't owe anyone anything. But far more people appreciate info than don't.

Sidebar: There's never been a lot of inside info on Iowa boards. I'm old enough to remember that when Jim Z got canned NO ONE saw it coming on the boards. Not a peep about it, until about 1 hour before the announcement there was a new thread started with a first post that essentially said "Wow, I guess this board isn't as inside as I thought." No one knew what he even meant. And that was 20 years ago TODAY.

Been on this board for almost 20 years. Don't really remember the good old days when so-called insiders regularly shared inside dope with the masses. What I do recall is a lot of innuendo and vague references from one or two posters -- you know who you are -- about an unnamed commitment being right around the corner. Sometimes good news rolled around, sometimes it didn't. One of the few times a specific name got thrown out, we were told Nick Bouzakis was leaving Columbus for Iowa City.

Call me cynical, but I doubt the insiders are really insiders. A real insider wouldn't be at liberty to share confidential information on a message board without jeopardizing their source, which would likely be an Iowa coach, an Iowa wrestler or the target wrestler himself.

I have it on good authority that there is going to be a new assistant coach announced at some point. A few facts about the person:

1. He beat some really good guys back in his day.
2. Student of the game
3. Has been around some of the greatest minds in wrestling
4. Strong work ethic

I think a lot of people are hesitant to post any real information because recruits seem to change their mind all the damn time. Bouzakis did talk about coming to Iowa. Turns out he just wanted a better deal at Ohio st. The Raneys were a lock to come here until they weren’t. Bo Bassett was selling Iowa merch and signing autographs then he left.

Things are unpredictable, people get things wrong from time to time. The cesspool doesn’t have a history of giving a lot of grace in these scenarios. And honestly the negativity and bickering and arguing wears on people.

I commented nearly every day on the old forum. I come to this one maybe twice a week in season, with an uptick during the postseason.

I love Hawkeye wrestling and most of the posters on this form are awesome. I know a few of them. But there are about 15 people that come on here and just make this place suck.

It's healthier just to form a realistic expectation, especially considering this is the cesspool.

What if I told you my cholesterol was really high and they put me on those statin drugs, which had horrible side effects for me. I stopped taking them made a couple changes in my diet taking citrus Bergermont, and using Metamucil every day along with eating lots and lots of whole eggs And now my cholesterol as I said, has been consistent under 200.
