Since I admittedly did not keep up with football during the croom years, I don’t know the context, but heard it mentioned on T&L today, and many times seen it mentioned here over the years.

What is the story behind the wide receivers on every corner regarding croom, if anyone has a good answer please. TIA

Piggy backing here on a comment that I either made up or remember from the wild west and unserarchable years of the internet.

Did we have a player sign his letter of intent from jail or something, or is that entirely fabricated within my mind?

I do remember that, unfortunately and admittedly from reading Meat Market (pretty sure that’s where I saw it). Juco defensive tackle I think. Can’t recall a name off top of my head

ETA: after quick google search, it was Jesse Bowman from CoLin

He did not sign while in jail, he signed after he was released. And OM was aggressively after him and wanted his signature.

Pineapples have always been a symbol of friendly welcoming hospitality (Wink Wink) of the type seen in Madison? - I forget where, so Madison is a guess. Everything worthwhile comes from Madison I have heard.

Whenever travelers would home from whatever business they had, they would place a pineapple outside their house to let friends/family/whomever know that they were back, so that people could come visit/catch up and hear the stories about the far away land that people had possibly never even seen paintings of.
