Whenever you feel really bad about our situation, don't look too far to realize we are in a much better situation that what I would now call a former blue blood

I get the sense he's going to do well. He was borderline genius level collegiately. The man was a buzzer beater from taking FAU to a final, then turned Juwan Howard's mess around first year with a creative two big offense, then pulled together the best portal class ever on his way to a dominating title. That 4 year run is on par with Hurley's 4 years. He's a high EQ guy and a grinder. Him leaving CBB was a blessing to the rest of the sport. Now we need San Antonio to take Hurley.Yeah, they're a mess (and have been for a long time) but you better hope Dusty May just EATS at Dallas because Mark Cuban will funnel him right to Bloomington if things do 't work out with the Mavericks. Kind of feel like that is going to happen regardless unfortunately.
Nate Oats at Alabama:I’d be careful to make too much fun. We keep Pope and this is the route we’re headed down. Board aside, every UK fan I know in person is sick and tired of UK basketball. The last 3-4 years of Cal burned everyone out and now Pope has made it worse. Mitch Barnhart needs to be thrown in jail hiring a goofball who has 0 connections and a 60% career win percentage and had 0 tournament wins before UK. Ever hear anyone outside of Kentucky talk about UK basketball anymore? I don’t.
You really comparing a guy who was hired before NIL and the transfer portal were even a thing? Why don’t you compare him to recent coaching hires like May or Golden?Nate Oats at Alabama:
2019-20: 16-15 (8-10 SEC) — No NCAA Tournament
2020-21: 26-7 (16-2 SEC) — SEC Tournament Champs — Sweet 16
2021-22: 19-14 (9-9 SEC) — NCAA 1st Round
2022-23: 31-6 (16-2 SEC) — SEC Tournament Champs — Sweet 16
2023-24: 25-12 (13-5 SEC) — NCAA Final Four
2024-25: 28-9 (13-5 SEC) — NCAA Elite Eight
2025-26: 25-10 (13-5 SEC) — NCAA Sweet 16
This is the guy that most fans seem to want at UK. If UK had hired him before Bama, would he have been given a 4th year? How many UK fans would want him fired after year 3?

He was 25-10 last year with a sweet 16, that NIL and transfer portal didn't seem to help much. You really comparing a guy who was hired before NIL and the transfer portal were even a thing? Why don’t you compare him to recent coaching hires like May or Golden?

Bama made it to one tourney in 13 years before he got there. Let's not compare what adopting Bama vs UK would be. 22-23 they were the number one overall seed and had the highest pick in draft behind Wemby.Nate Oats at Alabama:
