About what I expected. If Wimsatt does play any significant time , he will probably be going against another 4 Star freshman QB in McCulley. With the reranking for 2021 QBs, Wimsatt is rated #23 and McCulley was rated #25. Unless IU’s backup Tuttle is ready, it could be 2 very young guys going at it.

Wait a minute, McCulley is 6'5" and 200 lbs. He is not ready to play against B1G competition.
Is this where someone not as lazy as me finds out whether McCulley has a spring (with s&c work since) and summer training camp under his belt that Wimsatt doesn't? I don't feel like doing it.
In the end, I'd love to see the kid play. But in this age when a transfer can happen for any reason without penalty, I don't want Savage 2.0 after he pulls himself off the turf with a 2nd concussion because of our leaky OL, just so we might get to go to the inevitable Pinstripe Bowl.

Just curious, who has the better offensive line?
Maybe not a direct answer, but lets look at sacks, QB hurries, tackle for loss (TFL) and rushing yards against Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State.
Indiana:
Ohio State- 5 sacks, 1 QB Hurry, 14 TFL, 48 rushing yards
Michigan State- 3 sacks, 3 QB Hurry, 5 TFL, 134 rushing yards
Michigan- 2 sacks, 9 QB Hurry, 3 TFL, 107 Rushing Yards

Indiana gave up 29, 20, 54 points to the opponents

Rutgers:
Ohio State- 1 sacks, 1 QB Hurry, 3 TFL, 111 rushing yards
Michigan State- 4 sacks, 3 QB Hurry, 7.5 TFL, 111 rushing yards
Michigan- 0 sacks, 1 QB Hurry, 2 TFL, 196 Rushing Yards

Rutgers gave up 20, 31 and 52 points to same oponents

Edge to Rutgers OL
Edge to Indiana defense? Except Indiana ranked last in defense in B1G in points per game.
Rutgers offense at 21.3 ppg (against all competition) and Indiana is 20.3 ppg against all competition.

Looking at the 3 juggernauts above- Rutgers scored 39 points against the B1G 3, Indiana score 29.

You worry too much. Let the best players play.

If Vedral can’t play then who should play QB instead of GW?

I’m actually all for him sharing time with Simon or Snyder. Just make sure Pop is part of his pass protection and GW can turn on his wheels after 2 options max aren’t there.

IDK, he looks kind of skinny and took a beating against Michigan.

Wimsatt against Illinois:

On the other hand, Indiana only has 15 sacks this season in 9 games.
RU has allowed only 16 sacks in 9 games.

He won't be playing Michagan.
Really? The point is their future freshman QB just took a major beating yesterday, which means Indiana may be reluctant to play him a lot against any opponent the following week.

Rutgers had similar defensive stats for sacks, QB hurries and tackle for loss against NW as Michigan did, and slightly worse than Michigan against Michigan State.

McCulley wasn’t supposed to play much, or at all, this year. He just is not ready. Maybe in some special packages, but that’s it. Ineffectiveness by Penix and Tuttle, followed by injuries to both, so McCulley’s been forced to play. Big up side I hope, but he certainly isn’t ready.

I was at the Big House last night, near field level and he did get hit…A LOT!! Hard to believe there’s any debate on who has a worse O-line…it’s definitely IU. Some of the hits he takes are of his own doing though. Needs to learn to slide, feel pressure in the pocket, not take off so quickl

Seemingly the OL coach will not survive and there will be a lot of disappointed IU fans if the OC gets another year too.

I’m shocked at a 7 point spread. IU has only scored double digits in conference games twice this year (15 vs MSU; 35 vs MD).

Good luck.

Looking forward to the RU vs Indiana prediction thread this week.

Indiana is winless in conference. But do RU fans think we’re capable of beating them?

We’ll find out.

Thanks for an injection of positivity. Fans rightfully get dejected when their team gets beat down hard. May the least worse team win!!!

Snyder should not see playing time. The Illinois game was more than enough film to see he is not a P5 qb.

If the best QB has the experience to keep from being slaughtered because of poor OL protection,
I'd say throw him in
But a true freshman needs to be developed before deeming the savior that will lead the team to victory because he's more talented than the bad bunch playing the same position, even if they're are not really bad just not B1G material
Last time the most talented , who was a freshman that couldn't hold his HS starting spot, was put in to save RU from losing, we seen the result of forcing talent to play before ready and that might have ruined Sit as far as being totally confident in his ability to make things happen on talent alone..

Sometimes it's best to wait till a player's ready than throw in with the hope he'll survive the lack of a good OL and save the day..
Give the best odf the rest the starting roll and just put the freshman in spots where it will give him a better chance to make plays without being put in a position he's not experienced enough to get out of without taking chances that can turn the ball over because he didn't know how to handle the type of pressure he was getting.

Years ago, Wimsatt playing wouldn't be part of who should start because one play would mean one year of eligibility wasted, instead of just letting it be a year to learn, strengthen and develop his skills.for next year.
Now freshmen are being thrown in before they are ready , because the HC panics.

I'm not a bettor, but it seems to me the spread is rather high. I was expecting 2-4 points, based mostly on Indiana having home field advantage. Does anyone else also think it's high? I realize that a 52-3 loss doesn't exactly make Rutgers sound like a good bet.

Langan better not start. If #0 can’t, and if Wimsatt still isnt ready to play against Mighty Indiana or Langan is better than he is, we are utterly hopeless. As poor a
QB Vedral is, hes a thousand times better than Langan at the position.

Rutgers pulls the upset with Johnny Football playing mostly TE.
That is my crystal ball and I'm stickin to it.

So if 4 star McCulley isn't ready why would anybody think Wimsett with less time, under his belt is ready to play. Having said that it would be disappointing not to see Wimsett get on the field. But everybody needs to dial down the expectations. Given He has a limited offensive package he really probably needs to split time with Vedral or whoever else.
