I'll defend my boys a little here:
1. I think we'll put up 30+ points, no matter which of our QB's plays. Ramsey is solid and Penix is freaking arm candy. Only Ahia State held us under 30. (Screw them - they are a NFL minor league team. I hope they get tossed out of college football.) That was Ramsey playing his first game as the starter replacement. We got 31 against Michigan State and their defensive numbers are slightly better than y'all - depending on the category. Not a perfect measure, but I like our chances at 30.
2. We're giving up 30 in league games, but that includes 51 from Ahia State. You guys are struggling to put up 20 in league. I'd be happy to win 30-27. Deal? IF Martinez and Wandale can go 100%, we could be in trouble.
3. Not saying it CAN'T happen, but I'll be mad and surprised (and we lose) if we give up that 250 rushing. OSU busted us for 300, but we held Maryland to 186 and MSU to 142. Again, IF Martinez and Wandale can go 100%, we could be in trouble.
4. We used to lose games like this because we didn't have depth or speed. Heck, we couldn't match up on a 1 deep, much less a 2 deep. But this ain't daddy's Indiana. Allen has changed that. He coached and recruited in the south. Spent years in Florida HS and also at Ole Miss and USF. He hired guys who also coached and recruited in the south. We have 23 guys from Florida alone. 45 from Southern states. Plus over half of the top 10 in Indiana the last two years. We aren't a juggernaut yet, but we can hang a lot better than we used to. Somehow, we've outscored our opponents 97-61 in the second half. Fresh legs.
5. Maybe our best attribute - we have guys who are showing hungry, who have begun to believe in themselves.
See ya at the yard Saturday.
Hope everybody stays healthy and we all get on Sportscenter!
