In the next 2 weeks, I think you'll see this team do a 180.

Our overall defense is VERY good, with absolute elite rim protection.

Cal sees what we have, and will start implementing an offense based around our strengths and weaknesses.

We have good shooters, who aren't taking good shots, and aren't even sure what a good shot is at this point.

I'd look for Sarr to get more touches, and for us to play more "inside out" which will set up better 3 point shots, and I'd look for Clarke and Boston to do a lot of pick and roll with Sarr as well.

I truly believe we'll see a dramatic improvement by next game, and a steady incline in the month of December.

They’ll figure it out. This team has talent and if they play up to it, they’ll be one of the best teams in the country. My concern is that by the time they do, we’re a 6 seed or lower. Fewer games this season means fewer chances to get better and fewer chances to screw up for seeding purposes. That’s the ultimate trade off with this system lately. The question becomes can all that talent handle the more difficult path they’ve created for themselves?

Was our defense that good or was Kansas that bad? Serious question. I know they played Gonzaga decently but Kansas looked terrible last night. Maybe that’s because of our defense, I’m not sure.

I think you are most likely right but its not going to be easy. Going inside out means you have to feed the post. We struggle just to get the ball onto the wing to feed the post. And our players aren't good at feeding the post once we get it there.

We defended Richmond pretty well, and they had a very polished offense.

We are long and athletic, and even though we're a very young team, they're already defending very solidly.

Once they've actually played a bunch of games together, this defense will be stupid good!

Having Jackson as a rim protector is priceless!!

No, it won't be easy, but right now our players aren't playing with a purpose.

This new team needs some structure, and needs an objective to use as a template, which I don't think they've had.

I think Cal has tried allow them to "just play basketball" and they went out and "played AAU" on the offensive end.

I think our defense has been solid. Definitely was last night...especially in paint and passing lanes.

Our length will be a major advantage this year.

Our issues seem to be spacing, lack of penetration, too much 1on1 and piss poor shooting at this point.

I am on your side...but there is one seemingly unfixable problem:
• We do not have a Point Guard gifted with ability to drive by defenders.
• Plus they wilt under Ball Pressure
I don't think we'll be an elite offensive team, but if we play with more structure, we can be solid.

I'm 100% sure that shots will start falling.

The college game is happening fast for Askew, but it will slow down for him, and he'll improve.

If our defense improves even more, and our offense improves (which it will) we'll be a top 10 team.

I don't see any other teams that we can't beat if we tighten things up, including Gonzaga.

Our defense looked pretty damn good last night. Our offense is atrocious. Our turnovers are atrocious. Pg play is atrocious. Shooting is horribly selected. We stop wilson just once lol. We win the game. I refuse to give up on this team. 1 thing for sure... And no one can disagree either. The physicality of college bball is causing issues. 100% on offense end.

I just don’t known where the good shooters are coming from. We know Cal won’t play Mintz and Allen much, so it can’t be them. Askew, Boston and Clarke (hey, ABC, I just noticed this) must be better than they’ve shown so far, but can they go from horrible to good?

That’s pretty unlikely to me, I’ve never seen someone start off this bad and be consistently good by the end. And we know good outside shooting will tell the tale in March.

Hell, we CAN'T shoot much worse than we did last night and still was within a shot or two of winning.

We don't have to improve much to be pretty good IN SPITE of our shooting woes.

Like Cal says..."We don't have to make em all. We just can't miss em all"

I'll wait for a bigger sample size before I decide that we're terrible beyond repair.

Yes but Kansas did not play well either. I don’t think you can just make some of your 3s in March to win, you have to shoot the ball pretty well. Look at all of our Final Four teams, with the exception of 2015.

Our team will get better and be difficult for teams to handle as the weeks go on. I really want Brooks to get healthy and play. Jackson has to stay healthy. He's a beast. Ultimate rim protector.

I think that both teams played excellent defense, but we have a lot of room for improvement.

I don't think that Kansas has the ceiling that we do.

I'm not sure why some are so committed to the idea that we're terrible beyond repair.

I'm sick of this wash, rinse, and repeat merry go round we're on every year too, but I still try to maintain some perspective about our likely improvement.

If I can't remain positive, I'll check out and go watch porn instead. lol

Yes they will improve.

They will get better on defense.
They will improve a little on offense until they run into a team that doesn't let them drive.
Cal will still pull shooters that aren't NBA prospects when they make minor mistakes.
We will get beat in the tournament by a team that can shoot and won't let UK get into transition and score in the paint.
Then it will all be about draft night so we end on a "high" note.

I'm not saying fire Cal, I'm saying he needs to change and make this a college program instead of an NBA weigh station.

Defense was awesome. Offense was horrid. You cant score 3 points over a ten minute span and win.

That doesn't even count the, what, 3.5 minutes to start the game without a point. Those probably aren't the only droughts. Im pretty sure there was at least 1 more 3-4 minute drought somewhere.
