are we the modern day version of Minnesota or Illinois? Once elite Programs that fall of the earth. Minnesota has 7 national championships and Illinois has 5.

why will that not happen to us?

It won't happen because:
1. we are now a pass happy team, with a option qb
2. we can throw the ball in big 10 weather and watch interceptions and incomplete passes.
3. recruit high profile passing qb's without beaches, which we will never get.
4. we completely lose clock control, so our defense is completely wore out.
5. we wear all white like the pilsbury doughboy.

Because literally Minnesota and Illinois played with leather helmets.

Modern Era...it starts after WWII.

More like Tennessee. Still a name brand, big fan base with limited in state recruiting, desperate to be relevant nationally but aren't.

Sorry, but we already are "Minnesota & Illinois". Not one peep about from the national media about our loss to Illinois yesterday. Nobody nationally cares about Nebraska anymore. We already are a "has been". 16 years since our last conference title. We may be the last place or 2nd to last place team in a pretty mediocre division. We have been barely competitive (sometimes not at all) against top teams in nationally televised games over the past 10+ years. I will always love the Huskers, but we've already become the Minnesota/Illinois type program. The trend over the last 10 years tells you that. Tennessee??...at least they are recruiting at a high level and competitive against top teams, we are not.
