I’m a 26 year old dude who is mostly healthy. I have a rare auto immune disorder, Muckle Wells, treated by an immunosuppressant, Kineret, injected daily. My thoughts are that I am more concerned about people not taking regular hygiene seriously. I work at Ingalls in Pascagoula where hygiene is the worst.

With the spread of this virus I can only do so much to calm my nerves while all hell is loose.

For all that is holy atleast roast me and give me a laugh in these trying days- or some more advice other than wash my hands. Rough times.

Really sorry you're dealing with that situation. Gotta be scary.

Here's Bill Burr talking about reasons not to hit a woman to cheer you up...

If you get to down and need some uplifting I’d visit The First Self Righteous Church in your sleepy little town.

Here’s John Mulaney talking about playing “what’s new pussycat?” 21 times on a diner jukebox

Hang in there man. Legitimately, if I was in your shoes, I’m taking off work and not returning until it’s a non-issue. I’m self-quarantining for my own health. Have family help where they can. Its unlikely something will happen, but your priority is to survive, not go to work. Good luck.

Trying. I gotta four year old son I’m mostly concerned about and running out of vacation hours at work. Hopefully the union comes through and gets us some time off from the shipyard during the pandemic.

Ask your employer for a reasonable accommodation via ADA. You actually have a valid concern and I agree with the poster that suggested self quarantine

I get what you’re saying man, but the most precious thing in this life is life itself. You go to work to feed your family, but if you don’t watch out for yourself you won’t be able to be there for them. Miss work and struggle temporarily than go to work and risk leaving your son fatherless.

Hang in there man

In your 26 years, you’ve been through these things before. Yes, this one is different in some ways, but very similar in a lot of ways. You’re gonna be fine. Like others said, there are different things you can do legally and not lose your job if you decide to stay away from work. FMLA will provide 12 weeks away. Not paid, but I’m sure your family and friends can help you through financially.

"You work to live, not live to work." That little phrase has helped me prioritize my thoughts more than a few times.

Of course everyone's situation is unique, but it's true. I would think your employer would work with you. I bet there will probably also be a compensation package (not unlike BP oil spill victims) from FEMA or something, although it may take a long time to materialize.

All the best as you wade into the unknown. Sincerely

I've been paying extra attention to it as of late

That's a tough spot and I hope for the best.

And I've been catching myself being extra careful and noticing some.subconscious things I've probably done all along. That said, I've never understood people who don't wash their hands.

A nationwide quarantine situation should result in people prioritizing the things that mean the most to them. To most, it will be health/family and returning to normalcy. A good employer should recognize/understand that.

As others have said staying alive to be a father for your son for many years to come is much more important than stocking the pineapples. He is your main priority.

I hope these clips will give you a laugh:

Chin up, brother. Stay strong for your boy. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours.

One good I expect to come of this is how much better educated everyone will be about the importance of washing your hands regularly. So, while I'm sure it is scary for someone like you right now, I think it will be a safer world for you when we come out the other side.

I have a coworker that is constantly using hand sanitizer, and I always thought of him as a germophobe. That will just seem like normal behavior to me from now on.

Thanks for the laughs and advice fellas. I’m sick. My throat is killing me. Tested negative for the flu and was told I have a bacterial infection. Was not given a test for Covid-19 due to no fever. Antibiotics and cough meds going down. If you’re the praying type, I’d sure appreciate some.
