There is only one answer.

TDS
Certainly this could be tied to Trumps stance, it could be importation of voters, it could be part of a globalist type agenda, it could be for workers, it could be to drive down wages. Most of the replies are all vague trump/maga connections. I wonder how they’d react to Thomas Massie going on the floor and staunchly fighting for something like funding woke Sesame Street? Chuck went from, keep them all out to let them in and no voter ID. Not only that but the entire party votes lockstep, like a cult, on this. I think it’s a combination of softness, desire to add most likely democratic voters, lobbyists and the desire to be opposed to Trumps position.

IT does present a security risk that has to be controlled IMHO.

Which just adds to the risks already within our borders.

It seems like most things where polar opposites exist with hard line belief on both sides.
How important is the desire to assimilate into our culture and our society? It was very important during the time after WW2. It appears that is no longer something that our government has deemed necessary. I think that’s a mistake. We need a nation of like minded people.

I think there is a difference in the type of rhetoric being used today. Trump is certainly xenophobic and his descriptions of immigrants is pretty racist.

Again, if they are here illegally, make sure that's the case, make sure that they aren't already legally supposed/allowed to be here. Give them a hearing to confirm and then deport. I'm fine with that.

I am not fine with racism.
Is the answer to open the border and bring everyone here?
Conservatives advocate for secure borders and economic nationalism, not xenophobia. Teaching nations to farm, manufacture, and export aligns with self-reliance, but the Left’s obsession with importing dependency undermines both American prosperity and global stability. A strong America prioritizes its citizens, ensuring cultural cohesion and economic vitality over globalist experiments.

The entire system needs to be completely overhauled. There is no reason why you a lawyer is needed to navigate through something like this. I just completed my wife's immigration process just last week whenever she became a citizen and I can tell you, i can understand why people become 'illegal'. They are always stuck in limbo because of the backlog of cases. Then you get a random I797 saying you missed a form and you are back to square one. To add to that, you have people working for USCIS that have no idea the process either.
I was expecting a lot more out of this administration with a revamp of LEGAL immigration. I know of a lot of Venezuelans/Cubans/Colombians that voted for DJT expecting tough, but common sense immigration.

Certainly it appears Trump gets almost all the blame for this flip flop. Which is an odd way to determine what your opinions are. The consensus so far is that the reason they’ve pivoted so hard and drastic is…it’s the opposite of Trump.

It’s an interesting topic as well from the perspective of resource allocation, we only have a finite amount of money, lawyers, judges, time, etc…. Having gone through this, is it your opinion that the influx in illegals over the last four years have helped or hurt the process for folks like your wife?
It’s sad to see the entire Democratic Party pivot so far on an issue because orange man bad, listening to their own words they don’t agree with mass immigration either, they just can’t agree with Trump so America suffers.

Again, thats A very broad brush you are painting with.

Keep in mind that there was a bipartisan immigration bill that Tuemo killed so he could use this as an issue. Everyone recognizes the need to change the laws and immigration process.

Is that why they voted collectively as a party just yesterday to kill the SAVE act?

It hurt the people trying to do it the right way. The backlog of ******** cases overwhelmed USCIS to where it pushed legit cases to the back of the pile. During his first term, I was able to sponsor her through a family visa within 7 months of applying. She applied for citizenship 2 times last year and was denied(due to bureaucratic red tape and incompetent government workers-long story). However, she applied in February, got a response within 2 weeks and was an American within a month. The person at USCIS said it was the most diverse group to become a citizen. That group represented over 20 different countries. My wife's sister applied for a visa because she just got married to an American and its going on over a year of waiting-she applied in 01/2024.
What's crazy, ask any Cuban/Venezuelan/Colombian American who they voted for and the majority will say Trump.

That immigration bill was a slap in the face of the people who went about it the right way. It almost guaranteed amnesty for the millions of of people that came in with no regard for the law. **** was a joke.

That’s precisely correct and they know that. It’s a talking point to try and paint conservatives as unwilling to compromise. When in fact that was an amnesty bill disguised as immigration reform.

Thank you for sharing. Now get ready for these libs to start attacking your position, asking you if you’re an immigration lawyer or if you’re an actual illegal immigrant because if not your opinion is worthless to them. You must be an expert in the field with a bunch of school learning and degrees to have opinions. Don’t you understand Trump is a racist, failed casino owner that’s trying to establish the fourth reich? Didn’t you know an unelected felon was able to control the entire country while he was OUT of office? That’s why the Biden administration couldn’t get anything done. Cmon man.

Not an expert but I can give you how I feel about the situation:

Diversity: I strongly believe in diversity of thought, opinion, race and background as a means to success. It creates better outcomes in almost every context.
Immigrants: I want more immigrants to come to the states, and I think it's beneficial for us as a country to have immigrants come.
Undocumented/illegal Immigrants: Every single undocumented immigrant I have met has benefitted me, from services, to jobs, to interactions. They have all been positive.
No fear of other: I don't have any fear mongering about what illegal immigrants are "coming here to do." It's been overblown that they are just a suck on the economy, and they only bring drugs/guns over when they come.

Unfortunately most of the anti-immigrants/anti-illegal immigrant rhetoric (since Trump started campaigning in 2015) seems xenophobic and racist. I know those are trigger words for MAGA folks and I'll sound like a dumb lib bot, but that's simply what it comes down to.

I don't think illegal immigration is a big deal at all.

Thanks for your honest opinion which I strongly disagree with of course.

Absolute must read. Immigrant trying to come in right way, in both Trump administrations she’s afforded sponsorship. Under Biden she was denied. Real life scenario.

I will also say that I took advantage of the Biden parole program for Venezuelans. I sponsored my wife's aunt and uncle and within a year they were here. However, multiple stories from friends of my wife saying they paid certain people to get them into the country. Didn't even know the person. I was offered money to bring people over here from VZ and I flat out denied. Basically, the system was broken from the start. Yeah there were people doing it legitimately, BUT there were more people out there doing it dishonestly.

Yeah almost every single one I've interacted with, which is tons, just want to make money and send it back to their family. No problem with that
So you’re cool with the fact that illegals will come here - get free medical care, education, food, benefits - then work without paying taxes to send back to another country? That’s your position and it’s a doozie lol. No wonder yall lost so bad.

In your experience is that a “legal” way for coyotes to potentially get other people across the border, I have no experience here so I’m curious. I would assume if there were people you know being contacted and offered money that it’s relatively common for the system to be circumvented. That would help make more sense as to why the Biden administration was keeping these immigrants away from ICE and ICE courts.

Here's the problem with what he said. How are they going to work? Temp agency? Work Visa? under the table? Within 6 months of my wife being here she was approached by someone asking if she would like to purchase a SSN. SSN are sold on the black market and used. I have no idea how or where they get it from, but this has been going on for years.
I will also say that its damn near impossible for an immigrant to get government assistance unless they have a baby here(anchor baby). I know of a few illegals that had a baby and were able to get government assistance whenever they were denied to begin with.

If someone pays another person to come in through a parole system, then that's just another form of being a coyote. This time doing it the legal route. Instead of sneaking them in through any means necessary, they just brought them in under the color of the law. They also got a lot of money for doing it that way. My wife's friends/family have gone through the Darien Gap(google it) and then they had to deal with gangs/coyotes demanding money. They would then get a local mayor/official to bus them to the next northern border.
Lastly, my wife has cousin's that have recently left the US because the immigration crackdown is actually working. They said they "will be back whenever a Democrat is back in office". You cant make this **** up man.

Now why you would bring reason and common sense into this debate is beyond me lol.

I think it’s important for the normie lib to read what you’re saying. They’re literally clueless. Some of the replies in this thread are laughable, there’s zero self awareness, theres zero regard to other’s opinions abs there’s zero accountability. All that leads to chaos and confusion. There’s so many on here screaming about due process, what about the process you’re describing. Why should we have to exhaust our resources on people that have no regard for our society? They have zero regard for the process of immigration yet we have to assign rights of citizens to them. It’s asinine.

It should speak volumes that ICE/DHS support this administration. They know what it takes to get the job done. Unfortunately the left does not want to listen to the experts. A really good friend of mine is a border patrol agent and he has told me horror stories about who they find on the border. We will just say that isn't just Latinos.

The majority of the people screaming for 'Due Process' fail to realize that whenever you go in front of an immigration judge, that IS due process. Whenever an order of deportation is ordered, that is the process of immigration and the courts.

It's the only reason they can give. We posted links to videos of them saying exactly the same thing as Trump. Exactly the same thing, out of their own mouths.

Obama

The all said the exact same thing. We know where the people stand, it was the 2nd biggest issue in the election and We spoke loud and clear.

So, it really begs your question. What changed? And there is no answer to that. The only common thing is the now oppose Trump.

They now oppose the will of the People. And that is why the party has a sub 20% approval rating.

They have no leadership. They have no ideas. They have no vision. All they have is hate towards Donald Trump.

That’s exactly why it was so important to Biden to cripple ICE. Those immigration courts operate differently and the illegals could be processed and returned to their home. By getting the ICE agents off the border they ensured the immigrants would be able to get into the country long enough to force them into having a trial with a sympathetic judge. It was 100% a ploy to gain voters. That was the entire point of my OP and not one of them can just say, yea we are trying to cheat the system. The fact remains - Americans don’t want this ****, Americans vote. If Americans don’t vote for what they want you to, they’ll find someone else that will. That is the moral of the story. As soon as this illegal train has satisfied their overloads with their sacrifice it will be on to the next marginalized group. It’s sick.

Their hate for one man has certainly clouded their judgement. Lets be honest here, a lot of the people in favor of mass deportations(I am certainly one of them-within reason) have zero idea how the system is set up. Don't make it damn near impossible for someone to come into the country legally, work and then naturalize. Make it so a regular person doesn't have to hire a $15k lawyer to do ******** legal paperwork. Luckily I was able to do my wife's, sister in law, mother in law paperwork.

I’m sure the reason they’ll be back when a democrat is in office is because they know the Democrats are working on “bipartisan immigration reform” lol.
Aside from working what is the number one reason you hear of why people want to come here illegally?

I work at a hotel maybe once a month(to get stupid cheap hotel rooms). I work with a bunch of people from temp agencies and the majority of their people are illegal(still haven't figured out how they get by with that) and they refuse to get any type of paperwork bc they do not want to pay taxes. I've met people who have the correct paperwork to get a SSN/VISA, but refuse to bc they flat out do not want to pay taxes.

You can search my post history and i am one of the biggest advocates for LEGAL immigration.

I have proposed that we solicit the support of our best tech companies, Tesla, AMZN, META, AAPL and for them to make an immigration app.

The app would help the immigrants go to area's that we need. An efficient system could make sure OUR communities are not overwhelmed. As it is immigrants are coming in illegally and overwhelming our housing and medical systems in certain areas.

If we had a great app with an efficient system we could cut down the time it takes to get approved and get people to where we need them without overwhelming our communities.

Did you see where Homan told us the reason that these people were put up in hotels?

Because if they were detained in ICE they had to get a hearing in 30 days.

Once they were released and staying in hotels, all they had to do was show up for court in the future. Which was averaging about 5 years time.

People that came in illegally under the Biden admin were either given an ankle monitor or a phone(mostly a phone) and were asked where they plan to go. They just lied and said I am going "ABC" and instead they go to "XYZ". I have been to 45 countries and the US immigration system is by far the jokiest. Do that **** in another country and your *** will be banned.

Unfortunately I did. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that something weird was going on when they pulled all the officers off the borders. Then when they were sending the NG in to remove barriers erected by the states I knew that there was something more than just typical “illegal border crossings”. It’s all coming out now. It was a literal assault on our country and sovereignty. If that would’ve been done in a third world country we would have intervened and provided weapons. It was a deliberate policy to allow unvetted, undocumented people into our country for what they hope would be years, ultimately ending in citizenship.

CBP1 app was created just for them. I had it downlosded on my phone. It’s pretty wild. Don’t know if it’s still operable. I used to show people at my gym the app and they couldn’t believe it.
And in regard to our immigration policy I couldn’t agree more, neither can the American people. Which is how a felon became president. Wake up libs. We want a country. We don’t want open borders. We will elect a damn felon if you can’t figure that out. Trump won the presidency on three issues: illegal immigration, DEI destruction and no men in women’s sports.

Ultimately what we saw at the border under Biden was NOT organic. It was organized. It was coordinated. They should be held accountable.

Apparently you want a Dictatorship?

Explain why the requirement to speak English?

There is a HUGE NEED FOR PEOPLE IN AMERICA TO SPEAK CLEAR ENGLISH AND WRITE IN CLEAR ENGLISH

IT'S CALLED THE RULE OF LAW

FOR EXAMPLE CONTRACTS AND LEGAL MATTERS WHEN WRITTEN IN LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH DO NOT HAVE EQUIVALENTS

Here Here

I am totally in agreement that a system to fill jobs with self supporting healthy educated immigrants would be fantastic

The problem is Democrats want dependent uneducated criminal poor disease ridden unhealthy people they can create and maintain with a dependency on the Democratic Party

I want legal immigrants to come here and contribute and not be parasites or public burdens or danger to American citizens

So go read the inscription on the Statue of Liberty

It says exactly that

You don’t think it’s necessary to read road signs and get a license? How are they getting around?
Could you live in china without speaking Chinese? Doubtful.
