It's really nice to see him playing well with the Knicks. Dude had 31 last night. Been playing really well.

This is a guy that understood he had to get better. And came back to Kentucky and improved his game dramatically to get to the next level. Wish Cal instilled that mindset in others.

If you're John Wall, AD, Towns, Murray, etc.. then ok get to the league. But these other guys. Hagan's, Briscoe, Skal, Orton, Young, etc.. should be pushed hard to come back and up their stock. Because clearly they weren't ready.

Agreed. But, sometimes a player needs to go when he can because his stock may never be higher. As an example: IF Skal had come back for his sophomore year, he may have had a terrible season and fallen to the 2nd round.

But generally speaking, I agree that these kids leave Kentucky after one year because that's how it's done at UK and if they don't leave, it will be a disappointment in their minds.

Skal was just woefully overrated. Like Boston. I don't blame Cal that much. Most of the scouts missed on him too.

This is great to see but comes with a smorgasbord of crow based delicacies for me. I was adamant that IQ was too small (weight & strength), needed to improve his handles & come back for at least another year. I’m very glad to be wrong & very happy for him. He always seemed like such a good kid off the court, as well. Good for him!

Quickley is such a hard worker, that certainly helped him to get where he is now. We have had plenty of other prospects come through with more in the way of physical gifts and perceived talent... and not be able to make the transition to the NBA (or even to college). Kudos to Quickley for getting to where he is now. You love to see that.

That was a pretty historic performance by Quickley. By comparison, last night Jaylen Brown scored 33 points in 19 minutes, a modern NBA record. Quickley came very close to that, playing off the bench for a worse team.

Plus, with most of these high school kids you have to forecast a whole lot, because the skills just aren't there yet. And many are not talented enough or far enough along in skill development to get to the point of being a really good college player in just the one year.

I am one that does not follow the NBA that much but am glad to see Immanuel Quickley doing well. He had a good head on his shoulders and had a family that did not push him into going when he was not ready. Plus i have never heard that he had people in his ear that was telling him how great he was. From what i have read him and his family believe in hard work and had great faith in God. He is now being rewarded for this .

I am afraid some of the young men today are listening to the wrong type of people and pushing them when they are truly not ready for the NBA.

While I agree, if you are in the first round in projections....You have to go. I can't fault anyone for leaving if they are projected to go first round. It's the guys like EJ montgomery that leave when nobody will draft him that bothers me.

The funny thing with IQ is he had the opposite where his dad didn’t even want him to play basketball. Give me a team full of kids like that all day long.

He did start for us. It just took him a few games to get the start. He is, and was, far better than anyone we have this year, at least to this point. He, Hagans and Maxey looked great at tournament time. Richards as well.

There was a Maryland fan (not sure of his moniker) who used to frequent the board. He was all in on Quickley and used to talk about how much heart the kid had and how he was winner. I think he followed him in HS and may have even known his coach/friends/family, etc.

Dude was spot on.
