my mother in law has Comcast and it is always going out and is over-priced. She only watches the local channels and maybe HGTV. What should I get her?

I have Dish, but if she isn’t a huge TV watcher, I’ve heard plenty of good things about YouTube TV

3 options, depending on how comfortable she is with change and how much tech support you might have to provide.

1. If cord cutting is on the table, I like YouTube TV.
2. DirectTV has been very aggressive with pricing lately. I had it previously and liked it, but didn't want to sign another contract.
3. Call Comcast and tell them you're trying to find the lowest price for your mother in law. I did that for my parents (who didn't want to switch), and saved them about $100/month on TV/phone/internet.

YouTube TV really couldn’t be simpler once you set it up and go through it a time or two.

And just like YouTube, after you’ve used it a while it begins to offer you shows you might like from the home screen.

The major issue I had was for any non-satellite solution I had to have internet and the best internet solution for me was comcast/xfinity. So if you have to go to them for internet you are going to have the same down time issues. So once I had to stay with them for internet, the package solution with comcast was the answer so I did not have to pay for TV and internet separately. Stay on them about downtime and negotiate a better price. You are the customer.

Some have recommended streaming services, but you didn't say if she has a broadband internet connection.

Watching local channels would be easy with an antenna; HGTV is the problem, so you'll need some sort of service ... cable, satellite, or streaming.
