i'm rooting extra for humphries this year.

usually it'd be a senior and/or kentucky boy who i'd hope finds their pot of gold at the end of their career. willis will definitely be that guy for most of bbn because he fits that perfect profile. for me though i'm literally expecting humphries to take no crap from anyone this year, standing his ground and being a space eater around the basket when he's in the game. i think he will be the difference for us in a couple games maybe. i'll be rooting for it each time. anyone think he's not a future pro?

Hump is gonna be a player this year. That is my hope and prediction for this year. To be fair, I also predicted a breakout year for Eloy Vargas a couple years ago.

He was pretty good last year, I'm not sure why he didn't play over Skal. He played an essential role in our win at A&M. I know uk officially lost but take out that call that wasn't related to actual gameplay UK would have won.

I'm excited about everyone, but I really wanna see what his counterpart wynard can do. How much pt can we expect out of wynard? What are your expectations for him? Humphries has good scoring skills in the paint, and he can shoot the mid-range jump shot. He hits his free throws. He is a better than average rebounder. Defense is going to be the question. Calipari needed bigs badly last year, but couldn't play Humphries more than he did because Humphries was such a defensive liability. Now, people are saying Humphries has lost some weight and learned to move his feet. If Humphries can be an average baseline defender, he will be a dominant player. But if he can't defend, then he will sit.

My one problem with Humphries, and I have only one, is he doesn't do dunks or putbacks. And when you're a true 7-footer, there's just no excuse not to stuff that rock when you're in the low post. His offensive preference is to shoot jumpshots ten feet away, and (again, when you're seven feet tall) to roughly quote Cal, that's taking something easy and making it hard.

Will he get drafted? I'd like to think so. Will he get drafted in the first round? I think he could creep into the late first. Will he start in the pros? I see him as a 7-8 man off the bench in the NBA unless he gets faster and more physical in the post. Definitely could happen but if I'm projecting from today I don't see him improving THAT(starting in the nba drastically.

He could be a hell of a college player though if he can defend better and get more consistent on that 12-15 footer. Oh and he has to work on his footwork a lot.

That's an interesting point. When Humphries and Bam are in the lineup together, that's a lot of beef and scoring talent on the low block. More than most opponents can handle. The question is going to be whether they can defend on the other end of the floor.

I do believe this is the year the kid makes the most improvement in his game. At every other school in the country, when a kid becomes a SO, the coaching staff expects the kid to be improved. The big Aussie had the skillset and frame to become a really good college basketball player. It seems here lately we don't like to wait on any recruit to improve their skillset, but this will be one of the cases that the kid proves his worth on the basketball court. The difference between this 7fter and all the ones we watched play under Tubby during his days here is talent. During the Tubby coached years, the big men were lacking talent. Humphries has the talent to become one of the best bigs in the entire country.

He was so young last year. His body looks totally different this year. He has some range on his jumper and remember, he wasn't all that experienced playing US style basketball. If we just get 50% Josh Harrelson this year it would be huge for this team and then he grows into 100% Jorts in another year or two he will give us more than a rock solid player anchoring the middle of the floor.

I honestly think Bam will play better with Hump on the floor. It will free him up to dominate inside. Kind of like the way Randle did when Dakari was on the floor with him.
