Players projected first round in the draft and some even lottery, forgoing the draft to return to Duke or Carolina. Well I for one am not buying it. I have no proof and no friend of a friend or anything of the like but it's BS. It may take several years to come out and it may not happen until these players careers are well over but I believe they are compensated in order to return. One doesn't turn down life changing money that can insure not only their futures but their future families life to play one more year of college ball. I have so much respect for what John Calipari is doing for these young men in our program that I truly believe that years from now it will be seen as a pioneer in college to pro athletics.

I just don't get what's so different about Allen coming back than Aaron and Andrew coming back.

They were all projected around the same spot. Aaron and Andrew were both late first, early second round guys after freshman year just like Allen was after this season.

Somewhat odd post by OP considering Duke has had six players declare early for the draft since 2014 and one of those was just a couple days ago. One other guy barely projected first round deciding to stay is not exactly conspiracy material.

Now the other school you mentioned keeps their best players four years....

it's simple we have the only coach for better or worse that doesn't guilt kids about going. it is what it is.

you think cal does guilt players or you think other coaches push their kids as hard as cal to go pro?

I think virtually all coaches look out for their kids best interests. I believe there will sometimes be a kid, or two, that doesn't value the almighty $$$ over everything, in the short term anyway, opting for the college life, staying a kid for a year or 2, being the bmoc, chasing a NC, etc.
I don't believe all coaches except ours are evildoers who convince their players to return to school no matter the cost to the kid, their family, etc., all with the sole purpose of advancing the demon coach's self interest.
That's how some of you portray things & it's ridiculous.

I agree with the OP. This years draft is so WEAK compared to next years draft. I really doubt Allen raises his stock.

Well, when you get degrees and don't have to work for them.plus the other oodles of illegal benefits bestowed through Corruption U.,as far as Duke ,they are doing the same as UNC,except K has Homo relations with Trippy and others

I would imagine that a lot of kids are in different situations of need. Grayson Allen going back to Duke to possibly win two championships in 3 years is not a bad move. Just like going to UK is not for everybody going NBA early is not for everyone just look at Dukes next year team they are going to be great anyway you slice it, so Allen is going to be a media darling all year and be constantly in the limelight while maturing one more year.

I don't get that vibe with Allen, but with some of UNC's guys over the years I have especially. I'm sure Duke, UNC, KU, etc, fans were pissed bigtime when WCS, Harrisons, DJ, Poy, etc, came back 2 years ago.

I don't know abut all coaches but it seems UNCheat seems to keep kids who could go longer than most. At Kansas it seems players that are a specific need for the next year no matter five star or not find they way to very little playing time in hope they can be convinced to stay another year.

I don't understand all the people on this board that look down at all these other schools and ridicule them because they don't follow Cal's model.
Did you ever stop to think that those coaches believe in building their program and keeping it strong?
Not all players need to jump early. Looks to me like anyone that is projected to go high in the first round/lottery they go but those players that are borderline first rounders to second round come back.
Hmmm, what a concept. Having players that aren't sure first rounders return to reinforce your next team. I wonder what that's like.
Look OP, Cal's way isn't the only way to run a college basketball program. Just because a player comes back to school doesn't mean the coach of said program is not looking out for the kids best interests. Get a grip.

What you're saying would make sense if these players would at least take advantage of the new system and test the waters to get nba guys' takes on their game. Every player that wants to play professionally should use it as an opportunity to learn. By not doing that, you're wasting a big chance.

What I said makes perfect sense. Some kids already know what they need and know they aren't ready. Allen knows he has 2 more years to mature and knows he will be on a stacked team next year so in my opinion he did the right thing.
What's going on at UK with guys like the Twins, Dakari and Lamb, just to name a few, is what's wrong. Those guys had no business going pro IMO. They weren't lottery picks or even first rounders. They had more reasons to return than to jump.
What's wrong with coming back to school to be a part of something big before you go to the D league?

The school that bothers me the most with this is UNC. Two guys that come to my mind immediately are Harrison Barnes and James McAdoo. Barnes was less of a fall, but he went from being a lock of being a top 3 pick to return and fall to 6th (not too terribly bad). But there is McAdoo... He went from being a projected lottery pick his freshman year to a 2nd round pick by his junior year. That is insane.

They are being paid on the back end. Deferred compensation. UNC invented it.

Duke has gotten away with murder in being able to take care of players' families with jobs from their rich corporate partners... Boozer and Duhon immediately come to mind. So paying players down the line to stay when they should go is no biggie to these cheaters.

The ACC is so blatantly corrupt and rigged... even the officiating... that it seriously should be broken up. Under Swofford, a known cheater from his days at UNC, they have a master accomplished cheater running things and it is way out of control over there. ACC games are rigged and it makes you wonder who is profiting off of it as you know that's the type of environment the mob likes to come sniffing around when you have entrenched money-making corruption at the highest levels.

If it makes you feel better to believe all of that then good but none of that sounds true and it falls right in line with all of the people that hate Cal and call him a cheater and a criminal for what he did to UMass and Memphis. We know these thing's aren't true but so many people believe it is because they never bother to look at the real facts.

Yeah I will say I'm a little surprised none of these guys are at least testing the waters first.
