Honestly I think that Iowa is better offensively AND defensively than Michigan right now and if this game were being played in Kinnick that Iowa would win by multiple scores. I just don't know how our QB is going to respond to a big game in a hostile environment.

Your friend says the defense isn't as good as last year, and the jury is still out because like most of the country they only played one decent opponent, but they do lead the country in points allowed and yardage allowed and have only allowed one touchdown through 3 games. Michigan's offense isn't very good. I expect them to struggle mightily in this game and a score similar to what we saw vs ISU wouldn't surprise me at all.

Brown hasn't had a bad game. In the previous game he went 21-30 for 190 with no turnovers vs what I think is a legit Iowa State defense. He hasn't had a big road test yet so it remains to be seen how he will respond. Definitely a bigger challenge this week.

The bottom line is this is perfect for KF. He will come up with a game plan to make it the most boring game in the history of CFB (it will be such a boring game) and wait for Michigan to shoot itself in the foot. Michigan has some talent (see I'm already convincing myself) but doesn't have the discipline right now.

Yes, our friends from Michigan have that condescending tone that seems to suggest they think they are a shoe in playoff team, which they are not. They may beat this Iowa team at home, but they are going no where in the post season and their qb is awful. Most of their own fanbase knows this. At some point Whittingham will play Carr and pull the plug on Underwood.

I think Iowa started super conservative against iowa state thinking they would be able to run on them. I think Iowa will start out throwing against Michigan. If they did that vs isu we would have won the game comfortably.
That being said. Iowa will score 24 against Michigan, and Michigan will not be able to match that number.

They're not devoid of difference makers. The linebackers are really solid and Buffington and Lutmer will be All Big10 this year. The corners are very solid as well.

With that said...our D (especially pass rush) is legit. I think we broke Mateer (OU's QB) the week before. By the end of the game you could see he was just trying to not get hit and didn't have his eyes down field. I didn't see their New Mexico game but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was still playing scared leading to that result.

On the joking side (kind of)... Michigan's current OC was at New Mexico just a couple of years ago...so if they are still running a similar O then OU knew they only needed 14 points and probably took their foot off the gas

Oklahomas offense is really struggling, poor o line play and no receivers other than Satenga. So I guess right now New Mexico,and Oklahoma are pretty similar opponents. Western Michigan beat you guys by one point in regulation. I think poor qb play and no running game are your biggest problems.

Our biggest problem is our OL. And it's less about talent (which isn't great but not bad) and more about them adapting to the new system. I'm not an OL expert but have heard from a few that are...they all say our blocking schemes are completely different than last year and you can tell they are thinking instead of just playing.

On top of that, this new O has a lot of movement pre-snap and right after the snap... TEs going one way, backs going another...WRs in motion...it's meant to confuse the D but right now it just seems it's confusing only ourselves. Maybe a couple years in this system it will click but right now it isn't.

Michigan has two future NFL starters at RB but right now they look lost...both are downhill runners but we are asking them to go east/west like they are some 160lb skatback

Sometimes just lining up and letting your guys just hit the other team simply works

I know Whitt can coach. My favorite expression of his (on his face) is this look that is saying why did we just do that!? Some part of it is the players not executing but some of it probably is the staff he brought with him. He is most certainly loyal but he might need to upgrade in a couple spots. Harbaugh was the same way. It took him awhile but he finally cut some ties and then 21-23 happened.

As far as Tommy Carr...don't know if you know his background but he really didn't take football seriously until late in his HS career. He was a baseball player and that is where his head was. CJ was the fb player and he was going another way...well until it turned out he was pretty good at the hut hut thing. He has a lot of work to do in the weight room to turn his body into a football player. I'm excited to see what that looks like but it's not today.
