It’s what happens when teams start to believe. Down 28-3 right before half. The mental state of NU football, the team would have folded.

also this is what happens when a D-cord makes 2nd half adjustments. Sparta scores 3 points in the 2nd half. When was the last time our defense played better in the second half vs the first half

IL had some good talent. A lot of it is from transfers. For IL to sustain success they have to massively improve recruiting.

Right if a team plays better in the second half or comes back it is from magic adjustments. I guess we had the magic adjustments in our game against them. Since we lose every third quarter we are bad at adjustments, but then we win every fourth quarter, so are we still bad at adjusting? Lovie does not change much in game or even game to game, but wait a comeback has to be from adjustment, only explanation, right?

Its amazing what happens when a program is patient with a coach and gives them plenty of time to establish a foundation.

Arkansas is totally opposite and will be bottom dwellers for a long time

when was the last time we saw ANY adjustments at half time (noticeable)?

...now going bowling. Didn't really see that coming for Lovie and his crew.

Yes sir, that’s what happens when you stay the course and give a Head Coach 4-5 years to do his thing. Illinois is starting to play some legit college football. And I don’t see them slowing down from here on out. Lovie has always been a great defensive minded guy. If he can find a good O Coordinator and the OC keeps their offense going they can definitely win the games or at least be competitive in the BIG 10 West.

We have out scored our opponents by a lot in the 4Q so far this year. It was in Sipples article yesterday.
Let’s not be an idiot just because Sipple is taking something way out of context. We’ve outscored the 4 teams we beat in the 4th & had a garbage TD against Minnesota. That doesn’t make us a strong 4th Q team. That’s a misguided stat. That doesn’t make us a strong 4th Q team.

We’ve been a strong 1st Q team. I’d agree to that

everyone is going to have their own twists and views of things. And this is yours. Simply put, we have been bad all year in the 2nd and 3rd quarters in seems and do our best in the 1st and 4th quarters.

So we were better in the 4th Q then NIU, SAU, Northwestern, & Illinois and that makes us world betters in the 4th?

No spinning 4-5 and if we had been the better in the 4th Q then Indiana, Purdue, & Colorado we’re we’d be 7-2.

who in the hell is saying we are world beaters? My word dude, you’re really trying to flip this around. And yes, if we where better in the 2nd and 3rd quarters we’d be 7-2 and maybe if we finished stronger we’d be 7-2. But overall we do better to good in the 1st and 4th quarters. You can do that and still not finish strong.

It’s nice to see a team improve as the season progresses. That’s nice. It’s rewarding. What you are in mid-September doesn’t mean you can’t achieve greater things later in the season. Neb should have beat Illinois by 4 TDS if stats are the measure. Lovie took that group higher. Kudos to him.

Like headcard said by a lot and in Sipples article

And he’s right, it’s all right there in the stats to prove it. It’s well documented how we have done and struggled this year in all 4 quarters. We always seem to screw all that up in the final seconds to minute/s (and in the 2nd and 3rd quarters). I’ll admit that. But that doesn’t take a way the rest of the 4th quarter. That’s just simply not finishing the game out.

I think we can all agree they aren’t winning the 4th Q, at least not lately. So maybe we just leave it at that

ill agree with that to an extent. We aren’t finishing. That’s a given. So in a sense, we are close to being on the same page.
