I am considering driving down for the I-L-L-O-S-E-R-S game. I was going to call the NU ticket office to sit in the NU section. I am hesitant because these are usually lousy seats. I may try the U of I ticket office or go to a ticket broker. Any thoughts? If you are going please let me know where you are sitting as I would rather sit with Cat fans. Thanks!

Thinking there should be plenty of seats available. Buy the cheapest available on StubHub and sit wherever the ushers let you.

Same on StubHub. Under $10 fees all inclusive for 10th row at the 50.

Please, please, please use this option and do not give money to the brokers for no reason.

Also consider the Ticketmaster resale site. The ticket prices are the same as you'll find on Stubhub but the fees tend to be less. I bought four tix to the opener with Nevada and saved $10 in fees by buying on Ticketmaster.

Hopefully there will be more NU fans in the stands than Illini so sitting with Purple fans shouldn't be a problem.

Actually it would be kind of cool to try and mob this game. Does the school do anything to help students make the trip?

Don't believe that you'll have any trouble sitting with Cat fans, since both lolIllini fans generally sit behind the lolIllinois bench.

If you want to sit in a group of NU fans, you should buy your tickets from our ticket office. For me, sitting with NU fans makes for a better experience, even if you pay more. See you down there.

While that is true, you will pay 6 to 7x the cost of a ticket you could easily purchase on the secondary market. As
Others have said, just buy any ticket and sit wherever you would like.

I disagree with this option. The visitors ticket allocations are horrible at almost every school. Although a trip to Nebraska is a great experience, the visitors seats are barely in the stadium and questionably still in the State of Nebraska. PSU seats for visitors are equally as bad

Buy a good seat , meet some people and enjoy the game that way

This is my recommendation for bowl games as well

My sentiments exactly.

Except that you can literally buy any ticket anywhere for $6 - even *far* better seats if you have an unnecessary concern about someone wanting to see your tickets - and sit in the exact same section as paying through the ticket office and paying full price like a rube.

I guess I shouldn't advertise this stuff, since people acting against their economic self-interest and common sense helps me, but it baffles me why people would refuse to buy from StubHub in this exact situation. Can you tell me why you wouldn't? Is it some fear of fake tickets (can't happen) or not being able to sit in the NU section (won't happen)?

All good and inarguable points, Fitz. And DocRugby's assertion about the visitors' sections being horseshit seats is absolutely true. Many of us here - maybe a majority - would subscribe to the methods you and DocRugby describe, and they're not wrong to do so. It's just that personally, I've never cared for the idea of sitting in seats other than those for which I've paid . . . though it's often sorta unlikely, I still don't like to even have to think about getting tapped on the shoulder and having to slink off to other seats because I'm not where I'm supposed to be. Also (and again, just personal taste) I'd rather sacrifice seating position and sit around those in proper attire than have better seats and be surrounded by people with questionable taste in fashion. As for the cost difference (which is indisputable), well, I guess that's a price I'm willing to pay. Of course, I'm not smart enough to have gotten into Northwestern, so there you go. ;)

We went to the WIS game and we were so high up and lousy seats it was ridiculous. Last time got some descent seats but this year, awful. You can get far better seats other places other than from NU. And this is not the fault of NU. Just what it is for visiting fan bases at most places.

I understand, but I go to a game to yell and scream. It's much safer to do with the NU fans. I'm a coward at heart.

And I have gotten some pretty poor seats through NU. Not sure NU even makes anything on it. Certain things still worth it. Would have been harder to get ND game for example

You could also just see which section is the NU one and buy a $6 ticket there.

Come on, people!

Plus, if you buy from our ticket office the money is actually going to the Ilinois athletics program, not NU's. Buy a cheap resale at ticketmaster or stubhub.

I mean we almost always buy through the NU ticket office for away games and bowls to seat with the NU crowd. But for this one the attendance will be so comical that we are doing StubHub. As others have said, you'll be able to sit wherever you want in the stadium.

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like SubHub is the winner. Looking forward to seeing some of you at the game.
