Division 2 IL-Springfield comes to town to play an exhibition with the Hawkeyes. the last played a D1 opponent in 2022 (N Illinois) and won.

If you get B1G+ for a month ($12.99) you will get tonight’s game and four women’s games.

Most good teams are scheduling tough exhibition games.
Kansas vs Louisville and duke.
Nebraska beat kansas st last nite.

Not sure it matters but I do wonder if Ben wants to build confidence more than expose flaws in this scheduling.

Or since they already played Texas Tex and St louis in scrimages this is just what Ben said it was. A game for the students to come out and meet and support the team for free.

Yeah, bummer. The upside is that they're carrying other BIG exhibitions, so I can lurk and get a sneak peek at our competition. There are also other sports too, like soccer, volleyball, field hockey, ice hockey, wrestling, swimming and diving, etc. All the stuff I usually watch.

Other major conference teams are playing power 5 league teams..ISU vs NW, neb vs k-state ku vs Louisville and duke.

I understand Ben's desire to allow fans to see hawks...not really critical ...just curious

Some earlier exhibitions in BIG:
Marquette over MSU 86-79 in ELansing.
ISU over NW by 35 points
Houston over Michigan by 8 in AA
IU over western Kentucky by 5
Illinois got beat.
I know just exhibitions but maybe BIG is weaker this year?

Roddy Gayle is back with Michigan for his 5th year with new injunction today.
Matt painter was extended today thru 2032 at Purdue...he's a lifer!

Ben prefers private scrimmages. Closed or open, you're still challenging your team.

Ben says he can't help himself in open scrimmages of trying to win, which means he won't let all his guys play, and he won't let them learn on the fly like he does in the closed scrimmages.

Just looking at some of these scores in exhibitions and it looks like :

Xavier is kicking good teams around
Alabama is killing some mid teams
ISU crushed NW in evanston
Va tech...did not see scores
Creighton is beating good teams

These are our critical opponents next 5 weeks to give us some margin for error during the BIG season.
Would love to go 4-1 but will take 2-3...just can't go 1-4 or worse.
