Can some explain the enrollment calculation? St. Laurence (Burbank) website says the high school has enrollment of more than 1100, however, their IHSA enrollment is only 844. I don’t understand. Thanks

just guessing here, but they may have not updated that information on their website in several years.
It may be an error because they are in 4A which is an accurate representation of their actual number.
A girls only closed this year so there was an enrollment spike.
Thanks all for the responses. Did a little more digging on ISBE site and found 2022-2023 non public enrollment for St Laurence was 981. Have not been able to find anything later. But 981 makes higher than 4A.
It is a two year average recalculated every two years. So dumb they do it this way now instead of every year. So look for 21-22 and average with 22-23.
2021-2022 non public enrollment is 910. Still doesn’t make sense to me. Clearly there is more to it or there’s a mistake.

Yep. It is a really dumb way to do things. I am not sure why using the previous year for next year was discontinued.
I wish I could. As I stated before on another post, it was explained to me but I honestly can’t remember the calculation nor logic to determine the 844. It might be just an average of 2 years for 2 years ago. St Laurence has seen big growth in their last 2 incoming classes. Probably 65% of the student population are freshmen and sophomores.
Record # of incoming freshmen the last 2 years for sure. STL had to turn away some testers this year. Fastest growing catholic school in the Chicago Southland.
I’m not an official school spokesperson but in my opinion, it is due to great leadership at the top, capital investment in facilities, STEM accreditation, affordable tuition, strong alumni support. And so on. It’s a great school and community.
Watched numerous games online and their own announcer said it. The one kid switch jerseys from sophomore game to varsity game.
Number 17 on sophomores, is number 26 on varsity. Weird he is only listed on sophomore roster but played for both. I know there is one other player but can’t remember the number. They should really mute the live feed or check before saying things
Trust me. Not true. Yes they change numbers of course but no sophomore exceeded the rule.
26 is a backup punter and look up the rule. Players who only punt, kick or hold are allowed 8 qtr per week
I can 100% guarantee he did, it wouldn’t be hard to go through all their film and verify.
