who is Connatin(sp) gonna guard. Who is Vasturia gonna Guard? This ND team has no chance at guarding us in a fairly called game. Auguste is the only true low post player and the rest of their team is 6-5. They would have to hit 15 3's just to be in the game IMO

They probably will hit a ton of lucky 3's.

They hit 12 3s against Duke and lost.

Notre Dame is a lot better than you guys are giving them credit for. They are exceptionally athletic, skilled and have several players that are multi-dimensional, they are a tough match-up, same for Maryland.

They beat them 2 out of 3 times.

I think ND and UMd / WVU will play a zone that has all five guys in the paint.

If Devin and Aaron are hitting, we beat them double digits. If they aren't, we either win a squeaker or we go home early.

Connaten and ND got really lucky tonight plain and simple, Butler should have won that game. If somehow ND ends up playing us, we win by 30+.

I give ND a lot of respect.

With that said I think they would be worn down by 6 min mark of second half along with foul trouble.

I'm actually glad to see this as if it is true (and same applies to Maryland) they will go into a game with us planning to play us straight up and run with us and that will be their undoing

No one.

They'll play 100% zone, as will every team UK faces except possibly Arizona, Duke, Wisconsin, and Virginia. And Wisconsin and Virginia play zone-ish man-to-man, so there's not much difference.

You're doing the "30+" in every thread. We know you're not real, okay?

they play what 7 guys and the only guy over 6'5 is their starting center who is 6'10. They play man to man that is who they are so 6'1 Jackson against 6'6 Andrew Harrison. 6'5 Grant against 6'6 Aaron Harrison. 6'5 Connaughton against 6'10 Lyles. 6'5 Vasturia against 6'11 WCS and then 6'10 Auguste against 6'11 Towns.

The bottom line in both the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games vs. WVU/MD and in the Elite 8 Kan/ND if we play defense like we have most of the year which has been #1 or #2 all year then I feel we beat both and head to the Final Four. I still believe this has been the BEST Defensive Team since Coach Cal has been here in almost 6 years. As Cal was saying in the Post Game Conference today with this team we can miss shots and still win with the Great Defense we play. We gave up 6 easy points as Cal mentioned in last minute of the game on 2 Turnovers and 2 missed FTs and UC went down for 2 easy layups and 2 FTs. If not, we were leading 64-45 with 1 minute to play and giving up only 45 pts, 27% shooting 2-14 from 3. Our Defense was great today. Cal said in Post game that he has told the team we can miss and still win as long as we hit our FTs and this year we are hitting FTs. In the past we would have lost because we stunk on the FT line.

Precisely why they'll throw a zone at Kentucky and hope the UK guards are off.

have you seen ND play a zone all year. I've seen probably half their games and they play man to man almost exclusively. Playing a zone with 4 6'5 guys with a team as big as UK's is a big mistake.

Notre Dame goes with 6'1, 6'4, 6'5, and 6'5 four guard lineup and 6'9 forward. We need to pound it inside against ND and if you get them into foul trouble they have NO Bench! Against Northeastern four players played 38-40 minutes and the fifth Auguste was in foul trouble with 4 and was at 28 minutes. If it wasn't for the 4 fouls all five starters would go 38-40 minutes a game. We will wear them down with our depth and with our size I feel we can beat ND. If we are hitting shots and Devin is back next week in the 2 games and we play the "D" we played today then we will advance to the FF no matter who it is in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8.

ND can get red hot or play ice cold. Knowing our luck they'll be red hot lights out. That being said, I subscribe more to the worry about Maryland/West Virginia first mentality.

Trying to be polite here, but ND should have lost both of their games.

First team has 25 seconds to hit a shot to win and three different players PASSED UP Open SHOTS, that should have been taken, before they threw the ball to a big, that tried to dribble and lost the ball...thus no shot was even taken.

Last night, they got two leprechaun influenced breaks, a missed out of bounds that was clearly off their player,so they got the ball back, and the other team misses free throws and a layup, in the last moments. It's like a invisible hand is directing the refs, and ball to olnly do things for them., and to brain freeze the opponents.

They are on borrowed time.

If we see them I will be pleased...we will win.

go cats.

ND isn't guaranteed to get to elite eight.

Not sure why we are talking about them yet. They still have to win their sweet 16 match, (we also have to win too.)

They do have to beat Kansas first or Wichita State. Not an easy task for them by any means.

I also laugh when people compare to "THEY DID THIS AND THAT TO DUKE." Duke sucks on defense. They also don't put pressure out to NBA three point line like we do. Actually no other team ever does.

Great matchup for us imo. They play 4 perimeter players. We can guard that with our standard rotations, with no mismatch. If anything it would probably be a mismatch in our favor.

Then they'd have to defend us. Not happening.

Like most of the ACC teams except UL, Notre Dame is good on offense and bad on defense. They rank 105th in adjusted defensive efficiency on Kenpom. They are a good offensive team, but they play in a conference that plays no defense, and they haven't seen our size or defensive intensity. Both Butler and NE should have won, but blew it down the stretch. I'll give ND credit for finding a way to win, though.

First, we have to beat WVU/Maryland.

West Virginia or Maryland will both give us a more difficult game than Notre Dame.

Of Notre Dame's 31 wins, over ten of them were decided under the 3 minute mark of the second half. A juggernaut, they are not, and I'm not understanding the paranoia lately from some of you regarding a potential showdown with them.
