I apologize, I know some of this information has probably been gone over in other threads, but I don't have all day and I might as well post this one to localize this under one post for all to read.

If we do land Frost, and I certainly hope we do, anyone who has watched Oregon and UCF play, please fill out the following info:

1.) Offense - I am told Frost runs a modified version of Chip Kelly's offensive scheme. Shotgun formation almost all of the time, with the added wrinkle of allowing the QB to run, and even some Option looks. True? Accurate? Also, what else? How has he made this work so darn well at UCF to the point of them being the highest scoring team on average this season?

2.) Defense - Defensive philosophy? Who would he be bringing, or would he try retaining Diaco?

3.) Coaching ability, assistants, and physicality: Are they all good fits for the program? And by that I mean, are we going to expect to see Nebraska start becoming what it used to be, or will things veer off into a different, though perhaps good, direction?

Go for it guys, and your comments and thoughts are much appreciated.

this came off the UF site with regards to Frost:

OFFENSE

• When Frost arrived at UCF, he had a major challenge to transition UCF from O’Leary’s pro-style offense to Chip Kelly’s fast tempo, spread offense.

• Frost’s offensive system is a high tempo spread offense with good balance between the run and pass and an excellent deep passing game.

• UCF is ranked #1 in the nation on offense scoring 51 points per game this season.

• Before Frost arrived at UCF just 2 seasons ago, they were ranked #126 out of 128 FBS teams for points scored per game (13.9 PPG).

• Of note, Oregon finished in top 5 in scoring offense all 3 years that Frost was the offensive coordinator at Oregon.

• Frost has led a top 5 ranked scoring offense 4 out of the past 5 seasons. The only season when a Frost led offense did not finish in top 5 for scoring was Frost’s first season at UCF, when they were coming off a winless 0-12 season and he still went 6-6 with a true freshman QB.

• Frost called the offensive plays as offensive coordinator at Oregon, as he does as head coach at UCF. UF would never have to worry about who gets hired as OC, nor would they have to worry about replacing their OC every few years because they get hired as head coaches by other schools or because they got fired for lack of production.

• Ranked 5th in the nation averaging 530 yards of offense per game.

• UCF is ranked 2nd in the country for offensive yards per play (7.84 YPP)

• Frost really likes to spread the ball around to lots of different weapons. UCF has 23 different players (most in the country) who have caught passes and/or run the ball this season.

• Ranked 10th in 3rd down conversion % (48%)

• Ranked 11th for 4th down conversion % (73%).

• UCF has 24 rushing TD’s & 19 passing TD’s; total of 43 TD’s in 7 games this season (Averaging 6.1 TD’s per game)

• 199 pass attempts (28 per game) vs. 274 rush attempts (39 per game); 42% pass plays vs. 58% run plays)

• UCF has an 86% red-zone scoring % with 42 trips to the red-zone in just 7 games (6 red-zone trips per game) with 30 TD’s & 6 FG’s. (For comparison the Gators have only 17 trips to the red-zone this season).

• UCF is ranked 15th in the nation averaging 313 passing yards per game.

• Ranked 4th in the country in passing yards per completion (14.8 YPC). Frost loves to throw the deep ball. His offense is definitely not a dink and dunk spread system, as evident by his 4th in the nation ranking for yards per completion.

• UCF is ranked 2nd in the nation for passing yards per attempt (11 YPA).

• They have 17 different WR’s and RB’s who have caught passes this season (most in the country) including 5 players with 15 or more receptions`.

• The past 3 QB’s that Frost has coached have led the nation in passing efficiency including his current true sophomore QB Milton who is leading the nation with a 199.7 passing efficiency (19 Pass TD’s, 2 Rush TD’s, & 3 INT’s). The other two QB’s were Marcus Mariota and Vernon Adams at Oregon.

• UCF is ranked 26th in the nation averaging 217 rushing yards per game.

• They have 12 different RB’s and WR’s who have carried the ball this season (most in the country) including 5 players with 25 or more carries in their 7 games played so far. 4 of their 5 of top rushers (before one got insured) were 2 true sophomores and 2 true freshman.

• Frost doesn’t use his QB’s in the run game as much as is perceived. At Oregon and at UCF, Frost QB’s averaged just 6 to 8 rushes per game and about half of those were QB scrambles and not called read option keepers or QB sneaks. Even 6’4” 225 pounds Mariota only averaged 8 rushes per game and some of those were QB scrambles, not called QB runs.

• UCF running backs and receivers are averaging a combined 31 carries per game vs. only 8 carries per game for his starting & back up QB combined, so Frost QB’s are accounting for only 20% of UCF’s carries.

• UCF’s starting QB is only 5’11” 170 pounds. He was a dual threat QB in high school however because he is so small and he is such a great passer and Frost has a fleet of great runnings backs, QB runs plays are a distant 3rd option in Frost’s offense after passing the ball and running with his RB’s and WR’s.

• For comparison, Corral is 6’2’ 200 pounds. While he is listed as a pro-style QB, he has plenty of speed, athleticism, and size to carry the ball 6 to 8 times per game especially when about half of those would be QB scrambles where he would run into a big hole and slide or run out of bounds before contact. Watch Corral’s Hudl highlight film. He doesn’t have any called QB run plays on film, but when he has to scramble and take off running, he has very good speed, athleticism, and agility. Corral is every bit as fast, athletic, and agile as UCF’s QB, Milton, but Corral has much better size to handle the hits.

• UCF does run a fast uptempo, no huddle offense but they are pretty average on the stat sheet in terms of their ranking for plays per game. There are two reasons for this. First, UCF has had huge leads in most of their games this season, so they have really slowed their tempo down late in the 3rd or early in the 4th quarter. The second reason for their moderate plays per game average is that fact that often they will move very fast uptempo no huddle to get to the line of scrimmage, but then their QB looks to the sideline for the audible from Frost. Their fast uptempo, no huddle limits defensive substitutions, but the audible from Frost enables UCF to get into the best play based on the defensive personnel and formation. Even when UCF calls an audible from the sideline, they typically still snap the ball with plenty of time on the play clock. Not Baylor fast, but also not huddle slow.

• UCF is ranked 4th in the country for turnover margin (+1.7 per game).

• UCF is the most penalized team in the country averaging 9.29 penalties per game.

DEFENSE

• Although Frost played quarterback at Nebraska, not everyone knows that Frost played defensive back in the NFL for 6 season and his first college coaching job was on the defensive side of the ball coaching DB’s & LB’s his first two seasons as a college coach. Frost is not the typical offensive-minded head coach who has no passion, knowledge, or interest in his defense. Frost has all 3.

• Frost is fully committed to fielding teams that play great defense. He does not want to get into track meets, sacrificing his defense for a high scoring offense, and trying to simply out score people like many of the spread, Air Raid, and West Coast offensive teams in the PAC 12 and Big 12.

• With Frost at the helm, UCF made one of the best defensive turnarounds in the nation in 2016. The Knights led the American Athletic Conference in 5 defensive statistical categories, ranked 2nd in the nation in red zone defense and 3rd in the nation with five defensive touchdowns.

• In 2015 before Frost arrived at UCF, the Knights ranked 117th in the nation, allowing 37.7 points per game. In 2016, Frost’s squad allowed just 24.6 points per contest, ranking 42nd in the nation.

• UCF also went from just 13 forced turnovers in 2015 (115th nationally) to 26 turnovers forced in 2016 (18th nationally).

• Now in just Frost’s 2nd season, UCF has the 25th ranked defense based on points allowed per game (19.6 PPG).

• UCF is one of the few teams in the country this season that has a top 25 ranked offense and defense (based on points scored & points allowed).

• Ranked #5 for defensive TD’s scored

• Ranked #12 for defensive interceptions

• Ranked #4 for turnover margin (+12 for season; +1.7 per game)

• Ranked #33 for total yards allowed per game

RECRUITING

• All 3 of Frost’s recruiting classes at UCF have been the highest ranked in UCF history in the team recruiting rankings.

• In the 4 years before Frost arrived at UCF they averaged a rank of 80th in the team recruiting rankings.

• Frost’s team recruiting rankings in his first 3 seasons: 65th, 55th, and 51st

• Frost’s first class at UCF, signed just 2 months after he was hired, finished 4th in the American Athletic Conference and 65th in the nation. Keep in mind Frost came to UCF from Oregon where he had no recruiting relationships in Florida or the Southeast.

• Frost’s 1st class at UCF, they had only 1 commitment before he was hired the last week in November 2015. Frost gained commitments from 20 recruits in just the 2 months after he was hired before national signing day. And the class was the highest ranked in UCF history until last year. Amazing!

• Frost’s 2nd class, his 1st class with a full year to recruit, UCF had the highest ranked class in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and was ranked 55th overall (51st based on 247 rankings). UCF finished ranked ahead of dozens of Power 5 teams. In the previous 5 years before Frost arrived, UCF never finished better than 3rd in their conference for team recruiting rankings.

• Frost’s 2018 class is currently ranked 3rd in the American Athletic Conference and 51st in the overall composite team ranking (ranked 42nd in the nation based on 247 rankings), but they currently have only 19 commits with room for at least 25. The 2 teams ranked ahead of UCF currently have 20 and 25 commits.

• UCF currently has the highest point average per commit in their conference. Frost is on track to sign the #1 class in their conference for the 2nd straight year and surpass his first 2 classes to sign the highest ranked class in UCF history for the 3rd straight year.

• A big advantage for Frost over most of the other candidates on the short list, is the fact that Frost has established strong recruiting relationships with Florida high school players and coaches having focused the vast majority of his recruiting efforts in the state of Florida since he joined UCF 2 years ago. Florida high school coaches and players speak very highly of Frost, even the 4 and 5 star players that have ended up signing with major Power 5 programs.

• Frost has focused heavily on South and Central Florida. Most of the starters and stars on the team right now, especially on the offensive side of the ball, are true freshman and sophomores that Frost recruited out of South & Central Florida.
