He probably quit/was forced to resign so that he would escape from the NCAA's subpoena power. Now that he is not employed by an NCAA member institution, Connor cannot be forced to talk to NCAA investigators or testify. Connor and his lawyer can say anything that they want to say now, as Connor won't be compelled to testify under oath.
