Also, if Gillespie misses free throws and repeatedly throws away the ball in the second half, that will help.
Ah, excuses from a Tennesee fan.

UK shot 13-21 from the ft line (62%). UT shot 20-29 (69%) so UT was +7 there. 62% for UK is pretty bad.

I mean maybe and that's probably how we start the game. But you've also got Jalen Carey and either Okpara (6'11") or Estrella (6'11") at the other two spots. Moreno can't guard both of them. So Mo probably has to take Carey unless you put Collin Chandler on either Ament of Carey. I just think it creates imbalance and we either have to play smaller than them to keep our same starting lineup, or we have to start Jelavich, Mo and Moreno to matchup. Otherwise Chandler will always be guarding someone at least 3 inches taller and heavier. And what's that look like for us on offense with Oweh, Aberdeen, Mo, Jelavich and Moreno starting. Pick your poison kinda thing.

We've got 3 guards 6'5" and below and a backup center left in the rotation to handle foul trouble and injuries. And they have Brown and Phillips as additional bigs they can throw at us if they want to pound the paint all night. If we get a Doug Shows heavy whistle night despite being in Rupp, things could get a lot tighter than they ever should be. But like I said, just a concern. Not because I don't think Jelavic could guard Ament, but because if he does, who guards everyone else. Still think we grind it out in ugly fashion.
Okpara has missed the last 2 games. Calf injury. If he’s a GO against us, he won’t be 100%.

Go back and watch the last ten minutes of that game. It’s not just free throws - even his own coach said in a post game interview he wondered if his players were betting on games. And, I am not a ut fan.

I’m not gonna guarantee a win Saturday, but I’ll be absolutely SHOCKED if UT beats us.
Nothing is a guarantee lol
They’ll be out for revenge but I’d argue that we played better the last two games than we did at Tennessee. I’d also argue that if BG has indeed turned the corner (I’m not convinced he has) that will be the “it” factor going forward

Pope does a good job with coaching the X’s and O’s of the game. Only thing he’s gotta do is improve recruiting and he will have us where we want to be, I believe.
Actually I do believe he’s a good coach. Recruiting and roster construction are…well..less than stellar
Unlike some, I do really like this team. Liking the team and having concerns aren’t mutually exclusive

Lol at you trying to say you're not a UT fan, go play stupid games with someone else, you're not fooling anyone.
Also, newsflash, in an up and down game, guys get tired and they miss shots. UK missed even more free throws, so your excuse fails.
You UT fans have an excuse every time UK beats you. Y'all beat us in the sweet 16, we sucked, you guys wanted it more and were more prepared, that's it.
UK is and has always been a better program, just deal with it.

Was wondering when I'd get to experience what others have complained about on this site for years...this is going to be fun - how much of a ut fan do you really think I am?

Are we sure we would be in sole possession of 2nd place? Right now, there are what, 5 teams with 3 losses? Vandy is one of them.
Florida and aTm both have 2 losses, the loser will have 3.
If we beat Tennessee, we will have 3 losses, but several other teams will also have 3 losees and Vandy has the head to head

That's true... sole position of 2nd place requires a Vandy loss. Vandy plays OK in Nashville, so I don't see that happening. So, with a win Saturday, the Cats will likely be in 3rd place.
Look at it again we would be at eight and three the team that wins that other game would be at eight two a half game. Uk has played one more SEC game than Vandy or the other teams so if they win, they'd be at seven and three.

FWIW, I’m pretty sure that @UKGrad24 poster is the same guy that used to go by Morgousky. The same guy that was most insistent that Cal was awful, that Mitch is awful, that Stoops was awful, and now Pope too. Every person ever mentioned is doing piss poor by his measure (I’ll bet he’ll soon be bashing on Stein as well).

I’m guessing he’s someone bitter because of his own career failures, so now he wants everyone else to also be seen as failing.
Yes, he was uk 15 or Kentucky 15 just a few months ago but it's definitely Morg's style of thinking he's always right and everyone's wrong

Good catch…I didn’t realize Vandy had played one less game.

You have to win home games. To be honest, you can’t trust this UK team. They can beat most teams on a good night, but, they can lose to most teams also.

I agree with this, but on recruiting, I dont know it its Pope not landing the big recruiting or of he is doing all he can to get them to the table and they are balking at our terms. Maybe its Pope, but I don't know for sure and neither does anyone elee really
Some of it's that in recruiting visits these parents and handlers want the coach talking to them, and promises. Pope isn't going to do that.

Then we don't have a mid-week game next week, the other teams do.

I can’t say I was ready for him to leave after 2015 (I was more in line after 2018) but I do recall on these boards after blowing 2015 that no matter how long he stayed he would never win another. And not even another final four since.
Yeah I think that loss in the 2015 FF broke him. He just never seemed the same in my opinion.

Tennessee is a damn good team. They would be a handful for anyone on any court. I'm hoping we can edge them out
I agree, but you have to win home games. Should be Rupp at its best Saturday Night.
I would gladly take a one point win.

How's my least favorite Tennessee fan tonight?

Let me guess, UK got lucky again, because player X in orange did something bad?

What UK fan says UK only won the first game because a UT player missed free throws? That makes no sense, especially when UK missed a lot more.
