Ok I’ll bite. Say SF went 7-6 that year, is he still offered the Nebraska job? If not who? Fickle, Aranda, Napier…do they have the resume at that point? Not going to look up results for who else might have been a reasonable candidate. I’m I missing someone obvious? GBR!

I don’t think Aranda would have been on the radar during the hire he still was a DC for LSU and Baylor hired him because Rhule left for the NFL..

I don’t know if Moos’s would have hired Fickell having a losing record for Cincinnati his first year in 2017..

If UCF went 7-6 instead of 13-0, Scott Frost would have just been another average coach instead of being the hottest commodity on the coaching market.

Would love to have Aranda. Dude is the alpha we need.

Rhule will likely be available. Start the back channel conversations NOW.

You're right. With any winning record in season two at UCF, Frost is offered the job.

Well whatever anyone's opinion about UCF's culpability, pro or con, it's besides the point now. History won't be changed by debating it. The present and future are what matter now. Stating the obvious, Frost either turns it around this year or he'll be another closed chapter in the history of the program.

We would probably be the only one interested. Frost likely wouldn't have gotten offers from schools like Tennessee and Florida. Maybe we would have gotten him cheaper since he wouldn't have been in such high demand.

I was against hiring frost at the time due to not enough experience.
and I have been right about all the coaching changes since dr. tom...

but now that we have 3 1/2 years invested in frost, I suggest waiting to see what the season reveals.
I have been downing kool aid, but the affect has not taken effect.

hopefully the ship is now going in the right direction. I understand the logic behind frost hire, he will be loyal and he's youthful..42..saben is 70...so thats like 28 years frost could be hc if he plays his cards right.

frost I think has learned not to call riverboat gambler plays if you don't have the horses..
especially with the game on the line (whiple/mickey calls plays)..we had to go thru the growing pains of his first love yo adrian..(thompson/purdy at the ready)..we also seen his forgetfulness about special teams (bill bush)...

the o-line has been physically active (raolia/dry heaveing)
and the wide recivers now understand the importance of actually catching the ball (micky)
I believe yant has been coached enough not to fall down if nobody is touching him (applewhite)
the defense seem to have been getting it the last couple years. (leave whats working alone)
so now hopefully frost has become more experienced. and these lessons learned, will make NU football grow stronger..

I know he's hated but could you imagine if Fleck would have been offered and accepted the Nebraska job. Hate the guy all you want but I think he's the odd's on favorite to win the West this year and play OSU for the BBIG Championship. Fleck is and outstanding head coach but as a person off the field there are red flags for many. Fleck would not be accepted by many Nebraska fans because he would not do things the Nebraska way but I believe he would have turned the program around a lot quicker than most.

I'm gonna blame OP. For starting a dumb thread. I dislike Frost as much as anyone, but I'd rather win this year than start all over. Hopefully the worst is behind us, otherwise he is obviously gone soon. So.... who effin' cares who is to blame? We are where we are.

I'm not sure how Frost has set us back 10 more years given the mess we had RiLey's last season. We had multiple former blackshirts and pipeline members telling us it was going to take 5 years of recruiting and development to fix the problem. Well we're there now and the O linemen we recruited with Frost's first and second FULL recruiting classes are contributing now. It's time to make some hay.

Peoples definition of turning it around is pretty all over the place. I think it will be obvious especially if they do as well as I think they will in conference.

Zero reasons they can not be undefeated in conference going into the Michigan game. We have more talent than any other team we play in that stretch. Period. Coach it up and win the dam games.

Turning it around is different in everyone's mind BUT only the mind of Trev will matter in the final decision.

I saw a video interview of Joel Klatt by Colin Cowherd a while ago. Cowherd said he believed that the Nebraska rebuild is a 7-year process. Klatt agreed with him. Cowherd said there are only a few programs in today's CFB where it is a 3-year process and Nebraska is no longer one of them.

That said, I do believe it should have been better than what it has been up to this point. I see HCSF has made changes to his philosphy and recruiting after his 1st year and has continued to do so. He erred by not doing a better job with his QB room, his OL room and the special teams. I think he probably wrongly felt his people were good enough to get those figured out but the quality of the B1G (and the schedule along with some plain ol' bad luck) exposed those weaknesses and has delayed that process. Will he be able to gain back some of that lost ground? We will soon find out.

this was a five year rebuilt, that means we shouldnt expect to see results until year 5 minimum. its technically year 5 now but could actually argue its really year 4 bc of covid, and imo coach frost should get at least a year based on the bare cupboards he was left by Riley so could make the argument its the equivalent of year 3 of a 5 year rebuilt

So you think that Frost should be back next year even if he has another losing season this year??
