Year after year, we're the best in hoops and perennial gridiron doormats in a conference where football is king and the competition in roundball is soft.

Putting the football dollars aside ... Wouldn't you prefer to be in a conference like the ACC where we might be more competitive in football, but face tougher competition in basketball? I think the tougher competition would make us better prepared for the NCAA tourney.

I'd love to go to the ACC. Be in a conference that cares about basketball. Probably get better seeding every year, as well. Don't know how much money UK would lose out on, though, and we know that is what drives these things. As for football, we can't even beat Vandy, so being in the ACC wouldn't change how much we suck. Schedule sure would be easier, though.

History would have been kinder to UK in the NCAA tournament had we become a member of the ACC late70s, when Georgia Tech took the vacant position. I think we would have been treated very differently the last 40 years had we made that move.

Oh my god. Could you imagine the SEC without Kentucky in basketball? Talk about hilariously bad. And no one would watch the SEC Network from January to September except for Spring Practice. Half-empty arenas. No t-shirt nights. No career-saving wins over UK. Yikes. Now I hope it happens.

I'd rather be in the ACC as well - Jan and Feb would be so much more fun with that conference schedule.

Call me crazy, Mr. 2 Time Poster, but you aren't coming across as a UK fan.
That's because he isn't. So he's giddy the Monday after an early tourney exit? What a poor troll attempt.

It is interesting what they try to bring up though when they pretend to be UK fans - it's quite telling. This one is trying to stir up some sort of SEC discontent. Odd choice, but whatever. It looks like he failed.

Will you be giddy about another postseason ban next year? How about the annual azz whipping next season from Big Bro?

I've said for yrs that ACC makes better sense basketball wise for us but the money we get from football will always trump that in the eyes of the big wigs. It is what it is, but it sure would be easier if the SEC would get rid of the incompetent officials with their agenda driven whistle.

If UK was in the ACC, no one would pay attention to any other conference during basketball season.

It's a good (better?) cultural fit on a lot of levels, but that ship has sailed. It sailed back when ships had sails.

You people seem to forget how good the SEC used to be and the amazing players that were here. Finally getting teams to put money into bball and hiring better coaches. SEC will rise again soon.

Screw 'em all. Let's just go independent in basketball like Notre Dame does in football. Play whoever we want.

You are right Mr. Owl. I have seen it all too. I am 78 years old, seen the good, seen the bad. I do believe that we are in for better days.

No way. That conference is full of academic fraud and weird three finger dry rump probing.
wuh wuh wuht?

North Carolina should have the book thrown at them, and at least one of if not both of their National Championships stripped for sure; but with the exception of Vandy, the SEC is a doormat and an academic midget.

Last year's academic rankings :
#16 Vanderbilt
#48 (tie) Florida
#62 (tie) Georgia
#68 (tie) Texas A&M
#88 (tie) Alabama
#99 (tie) Missouri
#103 (tie) Auburn
#106 (tie) Tennessee
#113 (tie) South Carolina
#129 (tie) LSU
#129 (tie) Kentucky
#135 (tie) Arkansas
#149 (tie) Ole Miss
#156 (tie) Mississippi State

Not to mention low admission standards, and the SEC's long history of scandals.

In 2002, half the SEC was either on probation or under investigation for major rules violations. Off the top of my head I can think of Eric Ramsey, Charlie Pell, Bobby Petrino, John L. Smith, Logan Young. Just a few examples, and those only involved football.
