Still boggles my mind why Reeves doesn’t just issue a statewide mandate.
if people truly want their freedom and don’t want to be locked down again...just wear a mask in public. I don’t get the pushback. This is one that I think the administration really dropped the ball on...waiting too long to wear masks on camera. Trump, Pence, Macenany.
If they didn’t have a mandate, it might have been worse. And I’m not sure but don’t think hospitals are in bad shape.I wear my mask whenever I've in public, but not sure what a mask mandate will change. Look at Los Angeles... they've had a mask mandate since mid-June, but the cases just keep going up.

He said he took down a triage facility. Y'all do know that's not ICU or even a standard hospital bed right?Yeah, your story about taking down extra space just a week ago sounds really ridiculous at this point..
The average health of a Mississippian is no mystery. And officials had to expect a higher percentage rate of hospitalizations.
I remember looking at data way back in April, and it showed MS seemed to be “ok” as far as number of beds for the population...can’t remember where I saw that.
The real problem is staff. If ICU beds are a concern.... why have they been shuttering the Covid Overflow units? There is a $60Million 401 bed Covid Overflow ICU Unit in Memphis that hasn’t had a patient.... why didn’t UMMC take down their overflow unit? Why are we taking patients from Alabama?
Most hospitals are just getting back to working employees 40 hours a week... including nurses. The real problem is staff.
Absolute bullcrap. Let's not act like masks (or lack of wearing them) are the reason for the breakouts. People aren't picking this **** up at grocery stores. It's localized. This is the answer. If Trump came out and wore a mask the day the guidelines were updated, we would not be in this position right now.

I'll wear that terribly uncomfortable, hot piece of crap mask if I have to. But besides a random sneeze, it's not really doing much regarding the spread as long as people are distancing. The people spreading this won't wear a mask even if you pay them to do so.

Ok, yeah, I know what a triage facility is. I didn’t go back and see what engine said in detail. He said he took down a triage facility. Y'all do know that's not ICU or even a standard hospital bed right?
Tough to take any of it particularly seriously when no one is doing anything to actually expand capacity, sans shutting down "elective procedures", while also removing the initial emergency measures for overruns that were already in place, and not calling in healthcare reinforcements from places like NY that have already essentially beaten this thing and have an army of healthcare professionals with tremendous COVID experience that are operating at less than 10% of what they were before.
I know that our hospitals in the Jackson area are filling up from talking to people in the profession. That part is true. But if it actually overruns -- it's 100% on administrative failure. They are too busy talking about it on the news to be solving any of the problems and doing any of the planning to minimize it seems to me.
99.96% - covid survival (includes gunshot victims and motorcycle wrecks)
99.98% - flu survival rate
Keep up the fear mongering though. Y'all are doing great.
Yes masks need to be worn in public when social distancing is not possible but can we please teach people how to wear the damn things correctly. It's not difficult. I went to Lowe's and Kroger today and quit counting the number of people, including employees, who had thing below their nose or were constantly taking it down to talk. Wtf. Even Dobbs today would take his mask off every time someone asked him a question and put it back on when he was finished talking all the while Tate and the Mema guy are sitting there with no mask.

Money. We don’t have the money to staff the ICUs we need. Makes us look damn foolish leaving $1 billion a year on the table by refusing to expand Medicaid. There’s a way to do it (see the Waller or Hood plan).
I think we want to be 50th in everything.
Well there are 331 million people in this country give or take and how many deaths ? 135,000 ?? So....even leaving the portion of the 135k that are flu, gunshots, etc what are those percentages ?? Looks like .04 to me
Dude -we won’t even face the gold eagle on the capital toward DC like all other city capitals do. We say 17 Washington. Do u really think we’d take Federal money for expanding Medicaid and then potentially giving Obama care a chance? Ummmm. No. We won’t.
in a past press conference she was asked if she would wear a mask at one of the past rally’s, (OKC I think) she was adamant, very clear...that she would not. That type of **** from the administration was completely irresponsible and now it can’t be walked back from the diehards and Q types.Agree. And I don't understand their hesitancy to do so. Just doesn't make sense. Kayleigh McEnany doesn't need to since she's briefing the press well away from the "reporters", but it wouldn't hurt if she did for optics.
