For the last several weeks, been buying 5 - 10 lbs bags of ice at my liquor store. Recently they changed the size to 7 lbs for same cost as 10.
What will those 2 extra bags cost you? $2.50? $3.00?

Well 2.50 here, 5.00 there, 10.00 here. It all adds up. Retired people and people with out kids who are not getting all the free money are taking a *** kicking now everywhere.
Ohhhh noooo... not the excess disposable income of the childless!!!! However will you get by with only 35 lbs of ice per week?!?!? That's practically like living in the Eastern Bloc at the height of Communism.***
Seriously though, I can assure you that children (though worth it) are a net negative income wise.

250.00 a month extra for kids is great for those families. But it is a major part of the inflation right now. Those families are not feeling the hurt. It's not about ice. It's about a senior citizen going with out a meal because food cost has gotten outrageous. Inflation is a tax on everyone.
Has he clarified that he's buying 50 pounds of ice? I read it as they had 5 or 10 pound bags, and now they only have 7 pounds but cost the same as the 10 used to.
I read it as five bags or 10 lb ice. I assumed he was buying for a big tailgate. That's a lot of ice, but it's not just an insane amount. You can get 20 lbs of ice into one large cooler.
Not sure if aware, but it's a good time to quit...
2/3 of all smokers die. Therefore as long as I smoke there is a chance I will live forever.

That's probably not a major part of inflation now. We gave billions of dollars to businesses, many of whom suffered essentially no loss, and then also gave billions to people to not work, and also gave money to people just for existing (as long as they didn't make too much money). The part going to kids is a small part of it.
Even if it were more, the people raising kids right now are the ones essentially bearing the cost of supporting social security in the future when they are going to get screwed personally. And the people currently receiving social security right now got a pretty sweet gig, as they likely won't take the screwing.
That said, inflation is an awful tax and people downvoting simply acknowledging that some people are getting screwed right now are callous.
I have never actually seen 5 lbs bags of ice, but maybe that's it... I have seen 7, 8, 10, 12, 20, and 40.
There has been something like $6 trillion in covid spending. The PPP program along was almost a trillion dollars. The expanded tax credit is going to cost maybe $100B this year. Again, giving parents a little extra help is not a major part of what is causing inflation. All the money being flooded into the economy, along with supply shortage and gas prices is causing the inflation. It is a major part.
