Usually wait until Monday to look at this but I'm having a lazy Sunday so here it goes.
Chicago Comer (5-2) @ Braidwood (3-5) - Awaiting this weeks results for Comer, but it doesn't influence my prediction. Always hard to pick a CPS school. Their results are kind of all over the place, and although RC has more than one win, none of their wins hold any weight. However, they are improved and it sounds like things are inching toward a slow turn around (hopefully). I will take RC in a close one. Comets 24 Comer 16
Coal City (7-1) @ Wilmington (7-1) - GOTW.....no GOTY.......week 9 conference championship on the line at Becker Field, it doesn't get much better than that. Outside of their close losses neither team has been tested. Outside of those loses both teams are rolling, scoring over 40 and giving up minimal points. I cannot pick against the Cats at home, but this is probably one of the more capable CC teams that can slay the giant. I think this is going to be a physical game with every play being important. Unless there's some crazy seeding, first round of the playoffs should be a bit of a practice week for both teams even the one with the 7-2 record going in. I'll take the Hammers in a slobberknocker. WHS 21 CC 20
Peotone (3-5) @ Herscher (5-3) - I am shocked at how far off the Tone has fell. With only 2 real wins and those two teams have a combined 1 win, it is something I did not think I would see. I always viewed the Blue Devils as the best of the ICE middle ground. Peotone knows the playoffs are out of reach and they lost a heartbreaker to their rivals. This one won't be close. Herscher pads their seeding a little here with another win. Tigers 35 Tone 14
Streator (1-7) -@ Manteno (5-3) - Same boat as Herscher game. The Teno gets to tune a few things up before playoffs and pad their seeding. Panthers 45 Streator 17
