I wondered why the field wasn't lined?

I stopped by the field at Hatteras HS on Sunday, and noticed it wasn't set up for football. It's a dual purpose field, but was still in the "baseball mode."

So I googled it, and here is the answer.

Sad news but it makes perfect sense for the young men of Hatteraa to be working hard making money and chasing the tourist young ladies in their spare time!

Yeah, their off season conditioning involves one of the following, a fishing pole, a truck you can drive on the beach, a Eastern European girl working here for the summer, a boat, a net, another girl, a wind surfer, another girl, etc.

Lots of them spend their summers along the OBX, working.

I though had been transported to Russia yesterday. I was in Conner's Supermarket yesterday, two of the girls were talking a mile a minute in Russian. Probably making fun of my old butt. But, it was kind of neat.

I really like it down at this end of the island. A lot less commercialized. The people are just less hurried, and as friendly as they can be. There are still a lot of old structures. This gives the feel of something more permanent, which I like.
