Yep, because at least Croom inherited a mess and just continued to not get much better.
As has been stated numerous times, Joe took a really good program and tanked it in record time. What has happened now is our admin, including AD have made it clear they are inept...out of touch with the people they serve. We not only have a lousy coach extended, causing us to pass on better coaches who will now likely go elsewhere, but we have a lousy group in charge of all future decisions.
These men making the decisions are dooming us to the bottom of the barrel in a time where we had a chance to solidify ourselves as a solid SEC program.
We have in record time pissed away quite likely the best chance we ever had to become and remain a relevant SEC football program.
Welcome to the cellar, folks. I suspect we're going to be there for a very, very long time. This elevator is headed non-stop for the basement, and is going to be out of service for years at a minimum.
Again, it's the fact we were on a great roll...had a chance to remain a really good program, maybe even improve, but have now cut off our own balls.

If you have the time and energy to be physically ill over MSU football, I feel incredibly sorry for you.
If you're not sick to your stomach over extending JoMo and basing it on winning vs a bad OM, then I feel sorry for you.
You must not remember the Croom years very well if you think 6-6 is tanked.
I can't imagine having so much of your self-worth tied up in a football team. Most folks like that would just pick a consistently better team and root for them.

Sorry you are having the disconnect. AGAIN...this feels worse because we were headed up....had built our program into a very good SEC football program...had tremendous momentum at a time when our rival was way down...then we hired Moorehead, watched him dismantle our program in unimaginable speed, and have now rewarded him for it, rather than rip the bandaid off this thing.
It is more hopeless to me now because the people we trust to run things for us don't seem to grasp how bad our program is being damaged. It is more hopeless to me now because it's not just a bad coach being retained, but what I now believe to be an AD and admin that is lost, and lost faith with the majority of our fanbase.
This was never meant to be a comparison to a specific coach, though I did respond to someone who brought up Croom because Croom did inherit a mess.

My goodness some folks have lost it. I'm not a fan of Moorhead but I sure as hell want to win every damn game, and like I've said, MSU and almost every other program is not going to fire their HC after going to b2b bowl games and beating their in state rival. If we go 6-6 or 5-7 next year with the same issues we see this year, it makes more sense. I think this is a high possibility.

C'mon, man! You know damn well it's not about just W/L, but how really crappy and unprepared we have looked, particularly on offense against most any team with a pulse. He's had two years and, not only have we not seemed to have improved ANYWHERE, but we seem to be regressing EVERYWHERE.
To me, JoMo's failure is well beyond the reasonable excuses of suspensions, injuries, etc. We have not looked close to as good as we should have even given the BS.

You seem to be more knowledgeable then others. You even suggested that despite the issues Moorhead faced, we had what it took to be better.
List it. Step up, back up your argument and tell us how he over comes:
- Roster issues from Mullen
- 70 starts from the OL and 1 guy have 25 of those (not a veteran line) that is thin to the point, we rotated a guy between DL on OL (Roster issues)
- Control QB injuries (yes Shrader will be having foot surgery)
- Losses of 60+% of the last years tackles
- Lost 55% of the offensive production
- what is in effect 2 starters returning on the defense
Come on. Tell us since you know he could have done better.... tell us. Tell us how he gets us experience. How does he get 2 true freshman CBs to not make mistakes. Hell Bama couldn't even over come the attrition yet you think with our roster we should have?

I think the fact Joe has gone on record as saying we don't have a single play under center in the entire play book says a lot, BUT he's also played with a true freshman QB many times this year. When was MSU playing with a true freshman QB in the past and even sniffing bowl eligibility?
We're getting a new ST coach and hopefully S&C. We shouldn't have tutorgate next year and I think that'll solve a lot of problems, but it won't solve all the ones we saw this year. Joe will have to develop and realize he's got to coach effort, toughness and playing physical football 24/7 like Dan did to truly take us where we need to be. I'm not getting my hopes up on all that, but I do think going 2-0 against OM and getting to b2b bowl games (even if under achieving with the talent level we have) isn't worthy of being fired.
The defense is a totally differ unit with Gay, Autry and especially Murphy back there. I think Murphy alone would have made a huge difference this year with out Burns McGee CJ Morganslowalker back there.
