I even tolerated some of his new political music. But having venues require proof of vaccine is a bit much.

Proof of vaccine OR negative test I thought.

I have a feeling he will probably cancel the Brandon Amp show, you know, since Mississippi doesn’t really jive with all of those restrictions.

I seriously doubt a cancellation will happen since Brandon Amphitheater is operated by Live Nation (Red Mountain is a subsidiary).

Isbell’s just exercising his individual/business right to serve folks who meet certain obligations.

I’ve said it many times that he’s a folk rocker and people who like his music think he’s country or a country rocker because he’s from Alabama.

Once folks understand that Isbell is a folk rocker you can judge him by those standards and not by being from Alabama.

Oh, I’m going. I can still like someone’s music and not like their politics.

As a matter of fact, I would think the majority of my favorite artists have opposite social and political views than me.

ETA: however, in Isbells case, I don’t like the albums after Southeastern or Something More Than Free as much. Starting to sound repetitive. Fat, drunk Isbell was more my cup of tea, but more power to him.

Yeah. I wasn’t really a fan of Reunions.

It was a couple steps down from Nashville Sound which may not be one of his top two albums but Vampires was a song worthy of being on Southeastern and Something More Than Free.

Like Steve Earle, his politics sometimes gets in the way of his musical presentation. No denying he is one of the Americana/Folk genre’s best songwriters. I too like his early stuff— some of the best when he was with DBT. GD Lonely Love is haunting and beautiful and probably my favorite of his. But Outfit, TVA, Alabama Pines are all superb IMO.

Public safety? If an unvaccinated person goes and gets it from another unvaccinated person it's kind of on them is it not?

The saints are requiring the exact same thing. Fully vaccinated or a negative test.

I actually like reunions better than Nashville sound. But neither are as good as something more than free

If a person chooses to express himself or herself in a certain way by making a particular choice, then that choice may or may not have consequences.

As I mentioned before, Isbell is simply exercising his right to perform among people who meet certain criteria. And he has the right to do that.

Because its not the saints requiring it. And the entire point of the thread was about a certain person requiring so i thought that was an important distinction

So a government requires it and it just is what it is but an individual or business requires it and it’s wrong?
