Briscoe got boards but did EVERYTHING else wrong. Second game in a row from him I just don't understand.

Monk still thinks he's in Las Vegas. Sure, you're our best shooter (no question)...but I'd rather a big man shoot a wide-open 3 than you shoot a fading 3 with a hand in your face.

Fox may not have looked injured, but he certainly wasn't on his game. Missed floaters and layups and forced it almost as badly as Briscoe.

Bam was getting fouled all over the place (especially off the ball in the first half), and the one guy I felt sorry for in this game.

Gabriel was solid in recent games so he suddenly thought he was almost as much of a jump shooter as Monk. Nope. Get real.

Willis and Hawkins have their skills and their limitations.

I was extremely disappointed that we were no more organized in the second half than in the first. All on Cal, there.

What drove me crazy about this game was the fact that Tennessee did NOTHING impressive, and yet we still couldn't catch up. We were stuck in limbo for 40 minutes. Just bizarre and sickening.

This game was very similar to the IU loss last year. We missed many point blank shots just like we did in the IU game. When Briscoe missed that lay up I had flashbacks to that IU game. For some reason in both of these games we couldn't make anything at the rim (besides a few bam dunks).

Tennessee really didn't play that well or do anything spectacular. I agree. Their defensive game plan was solid though. They threw a defense at us we hadn't really seen yet and they played it to near perfection.

The biggest thing that scares me is when SEC teams bank in threes in home games. That's when I really say "oh God...here we go..."

I was pacing around my living room just five minutes into the game tonight. Had an especially horrible feeling.

I'll grant that they befuddled us, but it wasn't anything THAT crazy. Our response was just incredibly simplistic and stubborn.

Everyone on our team basically said "this has worked before, so I'm doing it again NO MATTER WHAT!!!!"

Lets face it, we jacked up too many threes and their bench out scored our bench guys by a whopping 37 to our 4 points.

Willis has to hit his shots when he's open. He kills us in a close game by not making those.

Also The ones he passes up are the ones he should be shooting.

The #1 problem: the Vols only had 9 turnovers. Just 9. That's why we couldn't catch up. We never got on a momentum shifting run.

They also banked in a straight away 17-footer to start the game. The rest of their points were mainly layups, dunks, wide open threes, and shots from 8 feet away.

Do you not remember the Gillispie days? Well Peperridge farm remembers and unfortunately so do I. This game had NOTHING on those.

Bam was 7/8. There is no other explanation for this loss other than too may missed shots from the perimeter.

Rest of team, meet Bam. Ala Rupp talking to Pratt's team about Issel.

Lots of bad shots and it just looked as if there was no offensive plan. Reminded me of an intramural game with just no offensive structure at all.

A well coached team banks in threes and a poorly coached team misses layups. Rick Barnes for National Coach of the Year. What a joke.

I never believed in Karma but I think Ayers has it. Bad.

you don't remember 2013 do you? Probably 10 games that season alone that were worse than last night. and I'm not sure I really agree with your comment about being worse in the second half. We scored 12 more points in the second half than the first and outscored Tennessee 46 to 43.

The rest of your post I can pretty much agree with. seems like we've been watching AAU ball ever since the Wisconsin loss

You could tell in the first five minutes that Kentucky was not ready for this game. Missed free throws, walks, charges and bad shots were all on display. Kansas was looking ahead and so was Kentucky.

Then, in the second half, with the comeback underway, the defense allowed two throw ins under the basket, with less than 10 seconds on the clock, for easy layups. Tennessee drove through Kentucky all night for layups the way you would have expected Kentucky to do.
The loser of the game on Saturday an kiss any hopes of a one seed goodbye.

2008 and 2009 both say hello. Too many God awful losses did we have? Let's start with Garder Webb and UAB.
We lost by 2 at a jacked up UT, we played awful, but let's not blow it out of proportion.

if we don't guard, we will go nowhere. This team needs to play inside out & bam MUST touch the ball in the post every trip in half court offense.

I think the problem was that UT was 10-9 and we have a marquee match-up with #2 Kansas this weekend.

I don't think our guys were too concerned with UT. Hence the sloppy, disinterested performance we saw.

Would you settle for a loss if it means benching the guys who are not listening to get him the ball...I personally think this team thinks more about its draft status than any team in Cal's time here.

Good chance we will see Tennessee two more times this season. We will definitely see them at Rupp and blast them. Then could very well see them in the SECT as they could be in the 8/9 game.

You may have a point here but I'm not sure you are going to change the mindset by benching anyone at this point, they are what they are. When we are on we are very very good, when we are not on we take on the" I'll do it myself" attitude

I would. Hawk has proved he can find Bam. I don't think its necessarily that but in that offense they drive if they can or even if the can't. It seems like like going to the big man is always the 2nd or 3rd option.

It is hard to make (almost) adults do things they don't want to do. That said, if you break off a play (and you don't make something great happen) you need to sit. You score more points playing cals way than you do picking splinters out of your @ss.
