Only thing Coach Cal needs to do is get some assassin type shooters in here. Give me some Brandon Knight, Doron Lamb, Jodie Meeks, etc types.
We may have one sitting on the bench with knee problems. Who knows maybe he could have been that guy.

Not Cal's fault. He can't shoot it for them. PJ missed a crap ton of free throws. No excuse. That's the game. Oh and green taking that stupid air ball 3 with 12 yes 12 seconds left. Wtf???
Cal gets what K doesn't want these days.Only thing Coach Cal needs to do is get some assassin type shooters in here. Give me some Brandon Knight, Doron Lamb, Jodie Meeks, etc types.
Nice postI like having Cal here, but I am getting burnt out with his recruiting style. He is great at signing 5 star players, but I think he is average at signing to our needs. It seems like he just looks at the rankings and goes down the line trying to sign the tall guys, put them down a position, and then try to mold them into what the NBA wants and not what we need. At least that is how it seems since Coach K passed him and cherry picks who he wants.
All we heard all year was about our length, but all this length was mediocre (minus Vanderbilt) when it came to staying in front of your man on the perimeter, defensive rebounding, shot blocking, and defending and scoring in the post. We had to hope most could jack up 3's and shoot for a high %. I think the game is changing and all of these big guys aren't the best players to be going after anymore. You need to have a rim protector with 4 others that can shoot the 3, defend, and out hustle their opponents. Just look at all of the upsets by teams with shooters and quickness on the perimeter. If you aren't elite with your lateral quickness, it doesn't matter how tall you are.
Let's hope with the 3 current recruits we might be changing things up for the better. Now hopefully we get enough of the right players to come back to go with the new guys or next year will be a struggle as well.
What game were you watching? The next possession we had the ball he did call a to. Facts must be optional for you.Fail. Its his job to call TO.
Listen to the post game comments.
Funny thing is, he said he should have but did not.
Won't do it next time either.
You are blind not to see it.
It is/was Cal's fault...because of his ft shooting Knox is the one that should have had posting up.Not Cal's fault. He can't shoot it for them. PJ missed a crap ton of free throws. No excuse. That's the game. Oh and green taking that stupid air ball 3 with 12 yes 12 seconds left. Wtf???
Appreciate Cal and what he's done here. Think it's about time for him to move on though. He was right. 10 yrs is about all anyone can last here. Would like the program to get back to being about UK first and foremost.
You do realize that every team loses in the tournament except one. In the last game, the loser falls to the worst team left in the tournament.
Let me know how many million you make as a head coach next year.
I'm ready to get back to a Program First approach. The "gimme the most talented players" plan isn't getting it done anymore.
I wish they would T him up every time he leaves it. I am curious how many he would have to get before he learned to stay there. Is it too much to ask that he keeps his *** in the coaching box at least? Having that point back at the end would have been nice.
No need to get your panties in a wad towards me Shirley, be pissed at Cal for poorly preparing his team and sticking with a flawed gameplan.
Only one that has their knickers twisted is you. The team was prepared fine. It’s you hindsight game plan that’s useless. Sometimes the free throws don’t drop. Anyone that knows crap about basketball knows that.
Oops.
Have to take them first. We aren’t playing inside out like we have been when our shots are falling. This reminds me of the Davidson game when all we did was attack, but KStste much more physical defensively and got lots of strips early. We are playing our best when we shoot about 16-18 there’s a game and we only took 5 the first half. Need to get up about 10-12 threes in this 2nd half and hit about 5 of them to win this game. If we remain one dimensional and hope the whistle continues to blow we are done.
Here’s my hindsight posted at halftime during the game.
You left out the part about hitting some free throws and asking them not to go insane hitting threes.
Chance beat us. Jacking up threes hoping they’ll go in is suicide, not a game plan. You thinking that’s a legitimate strategy is quite telling.

Them making open threes is not insane .. open threes are easy for most D1 college players .. our D sucked , we made that nobody into a star .
Shooting 10 3’s in a half is not jacking them up, it is called a balanced offense. The strategy of cramming inside to a post player who is struggling to hitting his free throws was not the wisest decision. Cal like always just hoped things would change instead of having a plan B. Spreading the floor and letting our players get into a rhythm as they have been so good at of late was the key to winning this game. Just as in football you have to pass to keep the defense honest, you have to shoot from the perimeter to open up the driving lanes (again balanced offense). We only took 5 threes making two of them before the two final desperation threes in the last 12 seconds. No clue how that would have turned out but we at least know how Cals strategy worked out. Bounced by a pathetic Big 12 team.
I’m done with him. He’s lost the one thing he ever had to begin with, recruiting, and he can’t win without it.
I’ve bitched about him since the Wisconsin loss but still wanted him here. I no longer care if he leaves. He choked at Memphis and he’s choked multiple titles away here as well. He lucked into #8. Getting one of the top 3 best players in the planet and a NBA lockout threat pushing players back here will never happen again.
He's humanI support Cal but he did a terrible coaching job tonight.
They were 9-22 from 3. That's hardly shooting out of their mind. UK played and coached very poorly. We allowed the game to be a grinder with a team who loves to do that. You lose about half of those.
They were 1-12 their previous game and 199th in the country shooting threes. I think last nights game would qualify as them shooting out of their mind. They were 9-22 from 3. The entire point is KSU isn’t much of an outside shooting team considering they’re ranked 199th in shooting 3’s. They shot better than they normally do last night and imo that’s the only way they could win. Even with their better than average shooting an average game from PJ shooting ft’s still beats them. They shot 35% and made about 7 a game for the season. They were a little better than that last night. Not out of their mind. The Cats played and coached like ****. It wasn't some heroic fluke effort by K State.
You left out that the pathetic Big 12 team was shooting out of their mind from three. I’m sure was an oversight to inflate your own rather laughable game plan.
Tubby's looking for a job.I'm ready to get back to a Program First approach. The "gimme the most talented players" plan isn't getting it done anymore.
Well I could name you 8 couches by the end of this weekend that will have done better.I support Cal and don’t think anyone could do better.
But, continuing to blow opportunity after opportunity is wearing on me as a fan.
Rational thought is so refreshing.I'm ready to get back to a Program First approach. The "gimme the most talented players" plan isn't getting it done anymore.

I'm afraid you are correct.Idk on cal whether he is the right fit anymore. I will always support whoever the coach is but too much talk from him about taking recruits and such has emboldened our adversaries. Now he doesn’t have that ability. Being critical of post season seedings and matchups and not seizing opportunity is another area I’m truly disappointed in him.
Since Saturday cal has been too loose to the point people say “swaggy cal” is back. Swaggy cal is the cal that chokes away opportunities. Cal just can no longer back his talk and that’s the crossroads we are at. Next year team will be on par with this one.
Since you’re so smart who should be our coach?Well I could name you 8 couches by the end of this weekend that will have done better.
He also said the record doesn't matter, which must mean that winning doesn't matter, which must mean that titles don't matter, which must mean the Program doesn't matter. Only the "kids" matter. This logic sucks.Cal has dug his own grave with the unrealistic expectations he has created. He said “I want to have an Undefeated season”, he said “I want to catch UCLA” in titles. He said we get crappy draws and can’t back it up with as easy a pass as he ll ever get. Cal makes these statements then gets the best talent in basketball and can’t back it up. In the meantime his adversaries are emboldened. I don’t feel like there is a reset switch in this situation.
Cal also had the finest collection of talent in the history of college BB on one team for one undefeated season, chose not to look at tape on the opponent for the final game, for the National Championship (did not prepare) and put that team in a position to lose to Wisconsin, and they did. That's not HOF credentials. That's dumbass and lazy and then relies on his mouth to sell the excuse. #recordsdon'tmatter, #titlesdon'tmatter, #programdon'tmatter, #onlykidsmatter. Useful idiots were are for accepting this high-jacking of OUR program.I do too. Believe it or not, sometimes team lose games. It happens. It sucks that we blew a great path to the FF, but it is what it is.
If you think having a balanced offensive attack is a laughable game plan then you clearly don’t understand the game of basketball or any sport for that matter. I Might as well be debating with a brick wall. Carry on, had enough of you as you have nothing of substance to add.
Actually, a FF game against Wisconsin.Cal also had the finest collection of talent in the history of college BB on one team for one undefeated season, chose not to look at tape on the opponent for the final game, for the National Championship (did not prepare) and put that team in a position to lose to Wisconsin, and they did.
