The final defensive holding call sucked. It was a bad call. There were probably a dozen other bad/missed calls during the game that equally affected the game in either direction. Happens every week to (almost) every team. You can't blame the refs for 3 missed field goals and an almost completely inept offense for the first 20 minutes of the game.

The offense is still young and lacks consistency at times. If you go half the game or more without scoring more than once, odds are you are not going to win. Look at our losses. It's remarkable how much time was spent with 1 or 0 scores on offense. 30+ minutes in each loss in fact.

Memphis: No scoring from State from 5:07 of the 2nd quarter until 3:00 of the 4th quarter. Shutout for 32:07 of game time.

LSU: Only 3 points until the first touchdown at 0:26 of the 3rd quarter. 3 points in 44:34 of game time.

Alabama: 9 points the whole game. Only 3 in the second half.

Arkansas: 7 points in the first half. Turnover and missed field goal contributed after a terrible start of back to back 3 and outs. 2nd touchdown scored at 8:15 of Q3. So 7 points in the first 36:44 of game time.

You just aren't going to win many SEC games when you only put up 7 points or less in over 2 quarters of game time. I expect year 3 to have a lot less of that, but a similar amount of ****** referee screw jobs and State wins several more games.

Problem is, the schedule is horrific. Don't expect more wins, even if the team is better.

And I don't like losing Cross and Sharp. Lashley? Good riddance. But we know what happens at MSU when we have losses on the OL. But since Sharp and Lashley are COVID seniors, surely, SURELY, there are some upcoming upperclassmen that can step in and start. I don't want to see any first or second year freshmen out there, that spells trouble traditionally in Starkville.

Yeah the officials missed some calls that affected us negatively, but the bottom line is that we had a few sloppy drives to start the game, and then had 3 drives with scoring opportunities that netted 0 points. That won’t cut it in a SEC road game.

I believe if you go around the league to each game you will see bad calls in all of them. When it goes your way you offer the opposing fans butt hurt cream. When it's against you then you ***** and moan.

I know it may sound like I'm being Fox Mulder because I joke about conspiracy and there are some funny calls that help certain teams. Usually it evens out but at that moment I AM PISSED!

I usually forget it all the next day but there is one exception. The exception has happened at Ark. The exception is when they make an obvious bad call that affects the outcome in the game and takes the game out of the player's hands. Usually it is a penalty that is subjective like pass interference. Something one person sees defensive holding and another sees the player just slip down and does not correct the other referee.

Then you have those that say if this player does that then we win. Okay... how certain are you the rest of the game plays out the exact way? How do you know the game is going to be just like it was but we just add the field goals that we missed or make the catch that we missed THEN the score would go in our favor. You don't. You really can't say the game would play out exactly as it did if we had made those field goals.

My point is at that moment we had the chance to win the game with that one play. If the ref does not throw his flag from 30 yards away we take over on down and win. The Memphis game was just a great example of bad officiating for the entire game. You can't necessarily say if they had made this call or that call then we definitely would've won the game. That's the difference. To me.

I will start by saying I agree with you. MSU did not do enough to win the game. Period...........


However I would like to ask. Do you believe MSU has ever, lost a game, because of bad officiating in any sport?

Yes. But I don't ***** about it. I'm a chicken salad guy. The worst officiating in any sport I have ever seen in my life was on June 30th of this year in game 3 of the CWS. Perry Costello was atrocious. It didn't matter. The players on one team made chicken salad and the other team ended up stuck with chicken ****.

I despise refs and umpires as a general rule. I have made several posts where I think you have to have a certain personality disorder to choose to put yourself through it. Similar to politicians. For every 1 that are there for the right reasons, there are a dozen egomaniacal asshats ruining the game/society.

But alas these are the rules we play by. Whether it's in life or on the field, sometimes **** goes against you because of the incompetence of others. Winners make chicken salad. And sometimes you lose because you didn't do a good enough job in the kitchen. . But one thing winners never do is ***** about how the cards are stacked against them, that's loser talk. Too much of that in society already.

Agree. Despite ****** refs we had numerous chances to win the game and didn't get 'er done.

WEll most games do not come down to one play in the fourth to ice it. This 4th down call did. You have to get that one right. Late flag, ball 12 yards away was uncatchable anyway. If anything it was intentional grounding. Emerson's arms were at his sides. It was the old soccer player move, get to contact and fall down hard. Works everytime.
