Was over on UCF msg board. Looks like they are starting to see the writing on the wall, that Frost is leaving. They are getting mad that he is "dicking" them around and not giving them an answer one way or another.
I can see their point. If he is going to be gone might as well let everyone know and let them start the process of finding a new coach. With so many vacancies, coaching candidates are going fast. Their options are even more limited. Him not giving a decision is hurting their recruiting just like ours. I understand wanting to keep his players focused, but everyone in the country knows what is coming at this point might as well make it official for all sides involved and get the process started.

It's NOT about the fans. It's all about the players on the team and keeping them focused on the conference championship. True UCF fans should be very appreciative of that.

Typical case of fans who expect to be treated like they are part of leadership. We hire Athletic Directors and Head Coaches for a reason. Let them do their jobs.

I don't know Scott Frost personally, but everything I've seen suggests he is a class act. I'm sure he doesn't want this news to distract the team from what is a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment of going undefeated and winning a conference title.

But instead fans feel like they deserve to know every detail about what happens behind the scenes. This is another case where social media has screwed up the world. Everyone feels entitled and feels like they know everything and have the platform to shout it out, even if they aren't qualified or worthy of insider information.

How many real "fans" did they have before this season anyway?
Maybe a dozen. The other hundred got aboard the hype train this year.

It was weird watching some of the UCF games on tv. It’d be dead silent at times and you could hear coaches talking.
Both the AD and Frost openly complained about lack of fan attendance.

Appreciative of the fact that every message board is burning up with rumors of Frost being gone? How is that "all about the players"???? It's not.

Nothing good comes out of it from UCF's position to have it announced before the Championship game. Just as it made no sense to announce a Riley firing prior to Saturday. Fans just think doing something will speed things up and give them finalization. Can't blame some of it. I wish it was finalized too.

There's a right time to tell people what's going on and IMO he's waiting too long. You don't do anyone any favors by denying what's obviously happening until the week after a CCG or whatever he's waiting for.

It also would do him and his future staff a great service in recruiting to remove the uncertainty about NU and to hitch the positives associated with his name to the Nebraska wagon sooner rather than later.

Imagine Frosts players and other coaches have been asking him what he is doing. With all the chatter going on it has to be a distraction. So he is either not being honest with them. Or he has told them and they all know already. Either way I don't see announcing being anymore of a distraction than what is going on now. If he announces then at least all parties involved have a direction.

If Frost is indeed a lock to NU, then this is the way he has chosen to play things. If you are a kid who is still on the fence in terms of recruiting, you might be looking NU's way if you like up tempo ball.
Word has been that Walters would take the HC job at UCF is Frost left. Given that Dubs was given his release, maybe that isn't the case, or perhaps Frost has someone else in mind for that job.

You should doubt things more. His players, being deserted by coach, would have no problem tweeting it out to the entire world. Even if they didn't, their parents and girlfriends would.
Wonder why none of them aren’t tweeting anything? You’d think a few players or their family members would be questioning out loud why their coach isn’t telling them which way he’s leaning one way or another, especially when they know he’s a prime target and being the last week of the season. Just my opinion, but I believe the UCF players know what his decision is.

Imo, I think Scott is focused on one thing, as he should be and thats going undefeated. Let UCF push him out the door by getting impatient. Scott has an offer or an extension from both schools. Scott may have decided in his mind what he wants but it's not inked yet. I think if he were staying he'd have signed with UCF by now but it's less than a week, we will be fine. It may come off as dickish of him but that determination and focus are a good thing.

I have no doubt that Frost has told his players at UCF what his intentions are.

I'm not so sure. Once you tell the players, the news tends to get out real quick. I think he may have said something like, "leaving is a possibility, but I am 100% focused on you guys and this season, so don't worry about that right now." That is basically what he keeps telling everyone else.

Why would he tell the players?? - of course they know its a possibility maybe even a done deal but even if they asked him, he could say just focus on the game that other stuff can be dealt with afterwards

The UCF fan base wants to win the conference the players want to win and the coaches want to win - why tell anyone until after

The reason I think Scott is "N", is because he HASN'T told UCF he is staying.

The best outcome for his team would be to say, "I'm staying, let's get it on!"

Instead, he deflects till year-end.

With the Florida job filled, ties to Nebraska, I don't see another job opening he would want, other than Nebraska.

So he makes a decision to wait to announce.

IMO, that makes him "N"

I suppose he could back out at the last minute, but if UCF, why not announce it RIGHT NOW. Then, you would have all that momentum in the program for CCG and Bowl Game and recruiting. I think Scott has made up his mind.

Not sure when, but it happened, otherwise he would have said "I'm staying at UCF"

And when Florida filled, options are down to 2.

Wouldn't be surprised if UF gave him an ultimatum, and he told them to pound sand either...

His plan made perfect sense until his smokescreen called the Florida/Tennessee job blew away when Mullin was hired. Now people know he has turned down Florida and Tennessee. He isn't interviewing with anyone else, and he isn't staying at UCF because he won't commit. This is the first year that so many coaches have been fired midseason, this is the first year of the early signing period...this should be the first year that a coach makes it known he is leaving before the conference championship.

The guy is 18-7 with 2 years HC experience. Sure he ran a good C.Kelly offense but that was under C.Kelly at Oregon. Not sure why you guys are so hell bent on Frost. You would think with all the talk around here he was 120-0 with 10 NC.

I don't know if we can truly 'feel their pain'....Nebraska has never been (in our lifetime) in a place where the program was used as a 'stepping stone' to a better coaching position. It must be very hard on them....even more so because they cannot yet break into a power 5 conference.... bummer for sure and painfully frustrating...

I do think however only the immature fans will fault Scott for continuing his career at a higher level.

Im sure their AD is 100% in the loop. Catering to the "needs" of the fans is irrelevant.

Let's be honest. They weren't in the running for any of the names out there.

I actually think the rampant changes in the coaching ranks (i.e. "the names out there") bode well for them. More turmoil and change will potentially shake free their next great coach...who may be an OC or DC at one of those programs. I bet UCF doesn't screw it up after the great surge they've had. They'll likely snatch another great up and comer with the great momentum they have.

He would also behave this exact same way if he didn't know yet what he wanted to do.

Dennis Dodd and many others were shocked UCF hired Frost 2 years ago. I disagree with this take

I am not a sports journalist and knew that UCF had some good seasons in the past. I was not surprised in the least that Frost got that job. He was a well regarded assistant of a high profile program. Was he supposed to start his HC career at a JUCO? Gus M started out at Arkie State, Saban at Toledo, Urban at Bowling Green. Great move by Frost. He went to a program where he knew he could put in some elbow grease and win.

There are a lot of reason why ppl think hes a good coach and a great fit for NU. You must not have paid much attention.

Right now it's in UCF best interest and Ride this train as far as it will take them. More important than hiring new coach. I'm sure he and UCF ad have talked and said ad is vetting. But right now they need 0 distractions.

Just like players have dreams, coaches do as well. Frost’s dream is to coach Nebraska. The fans have to respect that.

You are dumb. IF Frost is leaving, hiring a new coach to continue this train ride is the most important thing we have going right now.

There are plenty of candidates available ... and if we need to hire ... I will be back here 10 days after the game on Saturday explaining to you why UCF is still going to be better than Nebraska in 3 years.
