The main issue is our fans have been spoiled. Most hear the word 5 star and believe they will step in first day and be john wall. It takes time to teach most 18 year olds. Cal never stops believing that what they are working on will happen. Regardless of losing streaks. That's the dif in being a great coach and a disgruntled fan.
There's not a coach in the country that can take 8 new players and get them to a refined product in 3 months like coach cal. Might I add farther along than most do in 3-4 years. Record in tournament proves it

4-6 and he acts as it we are over the hump. Long way to go. We took a few steps in the right direction but, other teams are improving too.
Like who specifically in the SEC at the rate we are? I’ve watched Tennessee struggles and be up and down the past couple weeks in performance hence their upset loss. LSU is talented but flawed. They lost to Florida last week. We just blew out a team that will finish top 4 in the conference.

The issue isn’t bashing players for any reason other than performance. And these kids are progressing how they should be. However, they came in touted as some of the best in the country and have underachieved by every measurable standard. Now they are progressing. That is what should happen. The real test will be end of the season. Will everyone jump ship even though only 1 or 2 are projected in the forest round? Or will they stay and develop and increase stock for next year? I honestly believe that is the biggest reason for everyone to be over the calipari experience.

But feel free to get up on your high horse and condemn each and every fan you don’t agree with. Seems to be he norm for everything else these days.
We have a couple projected in the mountain round and I think another in the ocean round.

We have a 3-6 team that is improving each game. Nothing more. If Cal would have played Allen earlier in the year we would be at 7-2 and looking at 2/3 seed...instead we have to be near perfect every remaining game in order to sneak in tourney.

This ^. Good post.

That isn't necessarily true. Sorry. Allen has improved significantly. He got 8 minutes against Kansas and then had 3 turnovers in 4 minutes vs. GA Tech.

Allen got better. So did Askew and Sarr and Ware. Most of them have improved. Mintz has been the only consistent with Jackson's blocked shots...that's it.

Using Allen as the reason we lost some of these games is just an excuse. We just stunk a few weeks back and have improved.

if Allen hadn’t been featured vs MSU we may be 0-3 in the SEC. I’m not in the allen is a savior camp but his performance kept us from being in an impossible position to having the door cracked open for a berth. He definitely sparked the team to this run. I don’t think he would have made much difference early on because the benching and fan reaction was his motivation p

The op and others need to proceed with caution before making these wild proclamations because we are far from being a tournament team and I could envision a scenario in which we have a team to compete for a title but miss the ncaa bc of the damage already done: there’s no room for any losses right now and I don’t think the pumpers understand this math:

"your head up Cals [sic] Arse"

You -- you there -- just to remind you what Chevy used to say to Gilda, "You ignorant slut."

There are at least three reasons why this sentence likely swooped right over your head there little buddy. First, you are too freakin' young to even know what I am talking about. Second, your family didn't have a tv back then -- vicious stereotype or just the fact jack?. (You missed that early Saturday Night Live star reference, too, right?) Finally, your abject ignorance extends to anything about basketball.

Only my enjoyment and respect for Kentucky Basketball diminishes my willingness to describe fully the disdain I hold for you and your broken little cabal of know nothing misanthropes.

EVERYBODY played high school basketball all across the country and that has very, very little to do with understanding much at all about high level college basketball. What? You didn't? Were you at least a fan who attended your high school's games? What? You stopped attending when your high school team started losing?

Come at me all y'all. Do it. I would be delighted to remind you about the deeply dark period of despair headed your collective way. You most assuredly have no idea, especially because it has little to do with basketball.

Pssst. All y'all sports maven yahoos are earning the repudiation to come your way soon.

Alabama, Tennessee (Don't care about struggles they are still improving 9-1), LSU (as you mentioned are 8-2), Arkansas is pretty good so my point which you missed is they too will improve. Just because one or 2 stumbled lately does not discredit their body of work so far. We had a good game at UF no doubt but, you can't just dismiss where others are at simply because of a stumble or 2 and we had one really good game.

ALL OF YOU NEGATIVE FAIRWEATHER FANS WHO ARE QUICKER TO BASH THAN SUPPORT ARE THE REASON FOR WHAT’S ABOUT TO HAPPEN, and I thank you. I’ve watched yesterday’s game now about 4 times and my favorite sequence of the entire game is the and-1 on Castleton by Isaiah. Go back and watch that sequence I can’t remember the last time I seen Cal that damn happy over a bucket. He damn near jumped out his suit he couldn’t hide his emotion. The whole sideline erupted. Bruiser, Terrence, everybody, look at Rob!
I’ve played football, basketball, and baseball my entire life since I basically could walk, played in a 1,000 games up to college. I know FAMILY when I see it. That’s not a team that’s a family. And you guys brought them closer. All the bashing of the players, the coaches, the program, the kids talents, BOOS. They hear that is 2021 they hear EVERYTHING. So now they’re playing for themselves and Keion was that extra jolt of life and you can see it. It’s infectious, I can feel it, I got emotional watching it because I know what’s about to happen. I love EVERY UK fan but a lot of us really don’t appreciate what we have. Buckle up people it’s about to get real now!
People can be so irrational.

It is perfectly fine to blame the 1-6 start on Cal.

It is also perfectly fine to credit Cal with the 3-0 conference start.

See how easy it was to say that? And without that wall o'text.

This is false. 3 are projected in the first round. Just because you think 1-2 are projected doesn’t make that true. But you and the other group of blind believers like you will go through this season thinking only 1 will go pro and then be shocked when 3 or 4 go. Rinse and repeat.

It must be noted, this team has not progressed (by calendar dates) the way other teams have progressed in the past because this team has played 8 fewer games that any other team we've had under Calipari. If you compare this team to other teams by game number you'll see more similarities.

Consider, a normal team would have played a blue/white game, 2 exhibition games, and then 6 or 7 regular season games by the end of November. That's 9 or 10 games by the end of November. Last season, we played 10 games by the end of November. This team has only played 10 games and it's January 10th. Now, if you had seen this kind of progression 10 games in last year, you wouldn't be upset in the least. All this Covid-19 crap has been especially hard on this particular team. Not having Keion from day one was also a very difficult thing. It's not all on the coach. There are many factors here.

No same way Kentucky isn’t really in the south and damn near more of the Midwest.

It’s all about your perspective. Most people I know feel like Kentucky is in the South. I live in rural western Kentucky, though. If you live in the cities in the northern part of the state, you probably have more in common with the Midwest. Makes sense being a border state. A little Southern, a little bit Midwestern. We are pretty unique in that way.

it’s South of the Ohio river, and the fact you think it’s Midwest or damn near Midwest tells me you’ve never actually been there. Just a Coach Cal carpetbagger bandwagon fan.
Lol bruh if you consider the state of Kentucky in the same south as missippi, atlanta, Louisiana, y’all are living in your own world. It’s a red state with old southern political views, and ways of living but it’s not south south. Ohio river?! That’s your stands on what dictates the south? Doesn’t it run on central time there like Michigan?

Lexington is Eastern time, as is Detroit.

and yes, historically the Ohio separated North and South. The Mississippi separated East from West. Alabama and Mississippi are considered “the Deep South”. Even Maryland is technically “the South” though you’d have a tough time find much Southern about it outside of Western Maryland.

you are clearly out of your depth

you know...just because some fans complain does not mean they are fair-weather fans. in fact I would say those fans are more passionate than the fans who can not notice the nuances of the game. I'm not saying you no nothing about the game. but if a fan is bashing Cal or the teams results. seems to me that fan has passion. you may not agree with how their passion is expressed. setting back an accepting 6 consecutive losses and poor basketball and not complain is...well, suspect. imo.

Not totally disagreeing with you. And I know the college game is very different from high school. But the lack of shooting ability has been staggering. At least to me. And I’m not an old salty dog, but I’ve been watching Kentucky basketball for 35 years. For these kids to be as ranked as high as they were and not be able to throw it into the ocean is disappointing. One would think shooting ability wouldn’t completely disappear when you walk through the door to college.

Now you are correct in the fact this team is not progressing by calendar date. But I didn’t say anything about wins and losses. I merely pointed out that they are underachieving by measurable standards. Other freshmen around the country, much lower ranked, have seemed to progress and found their rhythm. Now again, I admit every person is different. But a highly ranked recruit shouldn’t struggle any worse than a lower ranked recruit.

Had the same problem. It randomly logged me out on mobile and the sign in page is pretty clearly bugged. I tried restarting my phone and everything. It’s pretty clear it’s an issue with the site.

I entered my stuff in enough to get it to remember my info and entered it as soon as the page started loading and that worked. If you let it get to where it tries to reload itself over and over it’s too late. Hope this helps
Yesss. I was somehow able to hit the auto fill/touch ID fast enough. Feels good to be back, even though i mostly watch from afar anyways lol

"Like I said, it’s perception. No right or wrong answer. Just opinion."

History is a great resource.

Only a post fact sort of world would suggest that Kentucky is anything other than either a Border State or union state. That means that Kentucky did not secede from the USA despite the fact that it was a slave state. Kentucky did have some tenuous arrangement with one official government and another rump, unofficial attempt at state government.

Some historians recognize that border states were kind of scaredy cats because they were so exposed to union troops from the north and potential secession troops from the south if they had not officially claimed Border State status. Kentuckians fought on both sides wherein many, many more of them fought on the union side than they did for the confederacy.

Ergo Kentucky is neither a northern state nor a southern state.

However, Kentucky made formal agreements with the the union to allow union soldiers to be parked in Kentucky. No such agreement was forged with the confederacy. That a huge majority of Kentuckians fought for the blues instead of the grays and that Kentucky allowed union troops to camp in Kentucky suggests to me that it was more of the north than of the south.
