The interesting thing is, before the hype train got rolling 1000 mph, many were looking at this game as being a potential loss. Now that it happened, "we" are outraged.

The team (coaches included) need to learn how to play with a lead. We havent really done that much in the last 3 years.

Agreed. We all need to wrap our minds around an unpleasant truth: we are not a very good football team right now and haven’t been decent in several years. Basically, we have three things going for us: a passionate fan base, good coaches (I still think that), and tradition.

But the University is lower tier academically, our football facilities are very average by today’s standards, and recruits have no memory of when we were good.

Hate to say it, but we are Tennessee to an extent. Not quite that bad (better coaches and more stability), but a proud program with a passionate fan base that can’t seem to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

It was galling watching CU coaches and players taunt us in the post game. But hey... that is what winners get to do. They have beaten us two years in a row.

We need to keep our effing mouths shut until we win again when it matters

Scotty me boy has Herculean tasks ahead. We all have a pretty good idea what needs to be done.
The man is going to need plenty of both, patience & time. As fans, we’ve got to join in or pick another team.
I’m stayin’!

Totally agree. We, collectively, need to slow down a bit with the hype.

Can this team be a very good team? Yes
Will this team be a very good team? Probably
Is this team a very good team? Nope. Not yet.

Wow, that is really spot on. Well said and, honestly, pretty depressing.

I was at the game. It was so disappointing. I think there is a plenty of blame from Scott all the way down. Lackluster play calling, Poor execution, Lousy tackling and awful pass coverage. It was like a switch had been thrown in the second half. Colorado was let back into the game. Then Mo Washington got that long TD run to put the Huskers up 24-10 and I momentarily thought OK they can take control of this game again. It was Fool’s Gold. The Huskers were toast. After CU scored almost immediately I said to the CU fan next to me, “Congratulations, the Buffs are going to win this game”. It was that palpable. The Husker D Line looked gassed. Being in the stands it was that obvious that the Huskers had lost their mojo. So sad.

(Oh yes. Before the game numerous people wrote on this board how bad CU fans had been in the past to us Husker fans. After the game I didn’t see any aggression directed towards us. All I saw was amusement and laughter. Nothing better than be mocked. My Colorado born and raised cousins, I took one to the game with me, just laughed and laughed. After that meltdown it was deserved and It felt awful)

I think both teams will finish very similar to the record they had in 2018. Both are very average and very close to each other talent wise. 6 wins for NU will be a good season

I live in Pac 12 country. I am betting CU doesn’t come anywhere close to finishing even near the top of their division.

FSU won a national championship just 6 years ago, so I would not put them in our lowly category, even though they are really bad right now. The others I agree with, though even when Tenn was good, they didn't rise to "Nebraska good" standards (meaning our drop in the last 20 years is bigger than theirs).

I think of us similar to Indiana basketball as well. The icons of the programs left, and nobody has filled the void. Both have passionate fan bases that can't figure out why that no longer translates into wins.

As a hawkeye fan i'd love to kick you while you're down ... but i can't here. You guys are way better than Tennessee and Florida State and probably better than Miami as well. All 3 of those schools really have no excuses either, from being fairly recently very good teams in a crazy talented recruiting area.

You guys need to get better in the trenches and it'll be night and day different.

I predicted a loss, so was not at all surprised. Just continued frustration at the inability to turn this ship around.
Patience is a virtue? Or something like that.

Frost needs to keep his mouth shut & beat some of these damn below average teams.

need to give it time ... you simply can't make any conclusions about the quality of a coaching staff after just 1-2 seasons

We are all guilty of buying into all the off season and fall camp hype by the local media and coaches. From now on I will wait to watch the performance on the field and make my own judgements.

consider this.. we thought we had a weak schedule with our hardest games at home.

what if all those tough home games, are truly automatic losses now.. those away games, that we thought were easy, could be tossups or now losses too.

just sort of flipping this upside down for discussion

Dead on. I'm afraid a few of those road games might now be must win games to get to a bowl.

Folks have no settings on the dial between zero and dominate.

If even the slightest bit of "he's shown flashes" hits the airwaves this board automatically pencils that guy in for 800 yards and ten TDs.

A few people are shown the door and we pick up a guy or two and folks are wondering if we are finally good enough to have all B1G caliber play across the two deep...it's ridiculous.

Sure the media hype train is real but people's own lack of common Sense and observation really gets them going transition from the spring game to early season

Not me, and I’m not bragging on it, but I thought Nebraska would lose to cu, maybe not in the manner that it happened, but none the less, I just didn’t think they would win, and I hoped like hell I would be wrong.

I based that on the previous game, Nebraska had too many mistakes then, and they repeated most of them against cu. The 17 point lead had me worried at halftime, I think we’ve all seen so many big leads evaporate in the second half of college and pro games. I wanted a 10-7 game at the half and some sense of urgency instead of a somewhat comfortable lead. With less than 2 minutes left in the third quarter, Nebraska still had that 17 point lead, and the rest is history.

There’s enough talent on this team to beat cu, and most teams they play in the B1G this season, will the players stop making game losing mistakes? Will the coaches learn anything from the loss? We shall see.

What changed here? I guess it's now OK to question anything and everything? A few weeks ago, if anyone even hinted at anything being less than positive they were called all sorts of names and told to get off the board.

I was at my daughter's wedding in Arkansas and only saw two plays as I was walking by a TV. I haven't watched the game yet. I did watch USA and I refrained from commenting because of bashing that would ensue. Believe it or not, one can be a FAN of a team and still recognize where the warts are and we have plenty of them.

I have read several threads after the debacle and there is blame on everyone including Frost and his play calling (now there is a new one, someone complaining about play calling ;) ) coaches, Adrian needs to be benched, S&C stinks, no talent, roster turnover, yadda yadda yadda. The truth is all of it true to some extent, if it were one thing it would be easy to fix.

I have always been a big "keep your mouth shut guy" and kicked that guys but down the field when the game starts. Had one of our better athletes standing in midfield of a HS game shouting at the opposing team we should have best by 40. I grabbed him by the shoulder pads and jerked his little but off the field. We ended barely winning and I don't think that kid ever did that again.

Right now things are not looking very good and could get worse before they get better. If you couldn't see that from watching USA, I am sorry, all the signs were there. Now call me all the names you want for telling the truth.

When BO stated his sideline antics I said this will eventually be a problem and I got hammered because it showed passion and fire. No, it showed lack of control, stupidity and no focus on what was important. This staff has some issues and it is not going to be pretty getting them figured out.

Personally, I'm not judging the entire season based on the Colorado game. The second half of last season shows there is hope, and I for one have hope for a big turn around in the next couple of games. Most here heading into this season had the goal of at least being bowl eligable up until the hype train hit. We're 1-1 and the goal is still obtainable so lets just watch and continue to support our coaches and player.
