So you don’t care for Jack Fleming?

Stop it....Fleming worked in Pittsburgh like I work in DC. It was a job it was NOT his passion like WVU was. He also worked for the Chicago Bulls do u think he loved Chicago?

At various times the people in the Burgh treated Jack like crap. They NEVER loved him like they did Myron Cope... they trashed his yard in suburban Pittsburgh during several Backyard Brawl weeks...I still hear die hard Yinzers tell me Hillgrove is "better" (even though the most iconic play in their franchise history is inexorably connected to Jack). Obviously Jack isn't around to tell us but you won't find anything in print where he expressed love for Pittsburgh like you can find about his love FOR WVU.

Yeah, all of the people in Pittsburgh hated Fleming! Just like they all hate West Virginia!

Every time I go to the strip or Carson street with my WVU hat on they yell and curse at me.............the yinzer bastards!

Maybe because the Steelers and the University of sPitt are completely different entities and are in no way associated with each other. It's an easy concept to understand.

If Jack Fleming jumped off of a bridge, would you too?

If you guys are ok rooting for an organization that benefits Pitt football then just be man enough to admit it. But for the love of all that is holy, stop invoking a guy who has been dead for two decades to attempt to justify your perversion.

Pitt needs the Steelers. The Steelers do not need Pitt. There is a difference between that ****-spackled bunch of Muppet farts and the professional football organization that just so happens to be the closest team for many in the state.

If Pitt didn't have that pro stadium they fail to ever fill, they would be a hair above UMass right now. I do not let that keep me from rooting for the Steelers. WVU and Pitt have club hockey, so I assume it's ****** to be a Pens fan, too?

Lol at the insecurities. The people of WV have the worst inferiority complex I have ever seen. I can go to a Steelers game and cheer along with the fans beside me. Then on that next Saturday myself and that same guy will call each other phaggits. Why? Because that's sports. It's sports people, get over your complex.

Piss on Pittsburgh...the whole yinzer-riden scum pile. The Zoo, Kennywood, the Waterfront, Sandcastle, The Point, The strip, The airport, the bridges, the malls, the elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, mail boxes and pigeons.
Get the picture, no picking and choosing...they all can eat....well, you know.

How’s that been working out for Pitt? Would you rather have their record or ours?

I don't care one way or the other. Don't follow the NFL, or any other pro sports. But, I don't understand how you draw the correlation between someone not liking Pitt and/or the Steelers and having an inferiority complex. Literally nothing else in this thread even suggested feeling inferior to anything Pittsburgh, except for you making the generalization out of nowhere.

Funny I never suggested he hated the Steelers I was simply disputing the idea that Jack "loved Pittsburgh" simply because he was employed in the city by the Rooney family and local television..... WVU fans who love Yinzer town always point to Fleming yet can't seem to find anything in print where he expressed a love for Pittsburgh.....and its fallacy to directly connect one's employment to something they may or may not have a passion for. Lots people live and work places they don't have a love for.

What a dumbass statement. I am from Pittsburgh and have lived in WV for 41 years. The only thing I despise about Pittsburgh is Pitt. You baffle me.

There are a ton of WVU fans and graduates that grew up in Pittsburgh or live there now and follow the Steelers - so yeah I’d lump them all in as Pitt fans as a result...simply ridiculous.

Let’s put this “you can’t root for the Steelers because Pitt plays in Heinz Field” fallacy.

Since Pitt has started sharing their home with the Steelers in 2001, they are 121-93 (57% win pctg) with one 10+ winning season and six losing seasons. WVU over the same time period is 141-74 (66% win pctg) with five 10+ winning seasons and two losing seasons. You tell me which program is better than the other - it’s not even close.

lol.....people love to hate. I hate pitt. The university. That's it. What in the hell is wrong with anything else Pittsburgh. Hell more people in Pittsburgh like WVU than pitt. I know, I live here. I walk everywhere with WVU gear on and never get anything more than a little ribbing. I give back and they laugh. People need to chill and realize there about as many people from Western PA at WVU as West Virginians.

I never got the hatred for the whole city either. Growing up in Morgantown I enjoyed going to Pittsburgh for pro sports and concerts. I'm not a Steelers or Pirates fan because I didn't consider Pittsburgh any part of my heritage or home town but I certainly don't hold any ill will towards the city at all. It's a fun place, I am a Pens fan and enjoyed many games at the Igloo back in the day. I usually have WV gear on and have never had a word said to me about it. I don't get the feeling there are a lot of people in Pittsburgh that care about Pitt in any way.

Those people up there (who are just as backwards and redneck as any people I have met in West Virginia) continually trash West Virginia all the time. Pot calling kettle black -- it's hypocrisy. Having grown up in No.Va. I can tell you Pittsburgh is seen as West Virginia north -- they don't call it the Paris of Appalachia for nothing.....

Lots of trash in the city of Pittsburgh. Homeless people begging everywhere. Then on football Saturdays in Morgantown they send some of them down to illegally sell tickets and the one legged bum to play on his saxophone.

These are my favorite threads on the BL.

People telling me who I can root for, why or why not and that where I am from is a “********”.

You folks that are born and raised WV get the hypocrisy of that, right?

Really? When idiots claim that they have no clue how anyone could like anything Pittsburgh and talk down to those that do...do you see some of the things these people say? That we all should hate the Steelers because of Pitt?

Sorry. I'm not a child. I don't think that way.

think you're combining 2 of those losers

the guy that plays the sax is the worst, huge pitt fan

then there's the guy with no legs

You are using the term, "plays the sax" very loosely here. The guy can barely carry a tune let alone carry it well.
