I mentioned on the Penn State politics board that I almost passed away from Sepsis in May 2106.
Another poster wished me well and added this.
"Sepsis is bad juju. My late spouse had metal rods in her spine. Got a tooth pulled and her jaw bone became infected through it. She ended up with most of her jawbone replaced by a metal one, as the infection kept spreading. Unfortunately, all the metal in her body was a perfect place for infection to attach and hide. Once she was in the hospital for 9 days with IVs of 5 different antibiotics trying to get rid of the infection. Eventually they replaced the metal in her spine with new clean metal. When she passed she was taking a mouthful of antivirals, antifungals, and antibiotics daily. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Pretty much died from pneumonia."
I will never ever forget this. Life is truly fragile.
