You might get to see a lot more of Brey, he's a leading candidate to take the Maryland job, along with Seton Hall coach, Kevin Willard. Neither coach is what Maryland was hoping to gain traction with on a real discussion about their opening, but I believe Marylands situation and the ugly portions of their fanbase ( fans cursed and harassed Coach Mark Turgeon and his family at games and outside of games) turned off a handful of preferred candidates.

I don't have an issue with Brey. He was very complimentary of Rutgers. Seems to be a "real" guy. Heartbreaker last night but can't fault the effort of our guys.

It was a game between two evenly match teams that was settled after two OT periods. He coached a great game bye having his offense continue to dribble drive to the basket and score on easy layups.Rutgers simply doesn't have the lateral quickness in a man to man defense against quicker guards.

I actually ended up liking the guy. He is a good coach and he at Pike's lunch last night. That's Pike's fault.

He called it the best game he’s even been a part of. Pretty lofty thing to say. He’s an outstanding coach. Check out his tenure. We’d build a monument for Pike if he has Brey like success

I think they should go with Craig Littlepage, Eddie Jordan, Kyle Flood, or Chris Ash.

Guy is a jerk, but he's a great coach. ND is well coached. He realized RUs issues and exploited them perfectly. The interview I saw just after the game, he gave no kudos to RU.

there is a horrible tweet at the end of the game of him talking to Rothstein, I wont even post it here. The guy looks like a hobo that lost his mind

He was complimentary to RU in the post game press conference

I know the one you're talking about. Rage inducing but to the victors go the spoils.

Wow. Brey would be a step down for the Terps. Their fan base will go ballistic.

Maryland is not going to hire a guy that looks like a drunken vagrant.

agree I dont see it happen but makes sense for Brey, he is getting long in the tooth and I dont think that is the kind of guy that will excite that fanbase. I said before that they were way overrating their place and the college hoops tabl

LOL this is nonsense. Guy gets boo'ed a few times and his cocky college son gets told off and all of a sudden everyone feels bad for him like Maryland fans were so mean boo hoo. He quit on his players, the fans, and the program the second he refused to ever accept any blame. It was always on the players, always on the fans for not showing up. Guy quit on the team and is a loser – and the worst part is that A&M fans knew it when he jumped and everyone said "nah it's because A&M isn't a basketball school."

And also yes Mike Brey would be a crappy hire for MD, but at this point it's pretty clear we aren't getting any of the "top options"

I'm not sure ND would even let Brey walk without counter-offering. Afterall, he has been there for the last five RU coaches as he couldn't help but remind us last night.

its a 5 second clip of him talking to Rothstein, it has nothing to do with Rutgers but everything to do with something that is just tough to watch after a loss like that
If its the courtside interview right after the game ended, I'd give him a pass. Hard not to be fired up and running on pure emotion the way last night's game ended.

It's unlike you to believe everything you read.

MT is a bit thin-skinned, and it got to him. And the truth is, all the early departures is evidence that he had the talent to go further, at least once, to go further than he did. I like the guy, but I saw no evidence of the "coached attacked my mouthbreathers" angle, and I doubt you did either...

I honestly would not be surprised if it was Mike Brey, although I'm not sure it's a good idea. I'm not sure how much talent, away from Notre Dame, he could pull in.

Whoever it is, it won't be the splashy hire that some in the fan base may expect, and some in other fan base will use to trash the program. We learned after Gary Williams retired that it's tough for a non-blue blood program to grab a coach currently at their apex. We thought we had Sean Miller back then. Ha ha. We ended up in an unofficial competition with NC State over who made the most disappointing hire that year.

Even blue bloods North Carolina and Duke have/will be replacing legends with "meh" choices. And Louisville is going with an NBA assistant, which sounds great, but there are a lot of those who would probably jump at a P5 head coaching opportunity.

I think it will be either an accomplished guy like the Providence or Seton Hall coach, or an unknown from a lower level such as the very young George Mason coach. I'll be a fan whoever it is...

We were out coaches. They expected us to be tough at the perimeters against 3s so they went inside with drives and shots/passes. We defended it poorly

Yep. And we kept rotating to cover the high screen until it dawned on us that it was a decoy
