They have to prepare for where is the search at now. If they have Frost and Scott wants nothing until next week Riley will not be let get until next week after full assessment is the talking point.

Several days ago on another board I’ve been seeing Saturday as the day and Nick Bahe “guessed” three times over a two hour period on his show that it would be mid-morning Saturday.

Sure there is, if Scott wants to keep the heat off him and his team. If Scott say lets make it all happen next weekend would you wait?

No they will fire Riley by the end of the weekend. My guess is tomorrow. Frost or any other coach has nothing to do with firing riley.

I think Frost has other concerns. Today his defense gave up over 600 yards to the quarterback alone. I'm not worried, but his defense has some issues that need to be addressed before he plays Memphis.

Same defense that held Memphis to 13 points in handing them their only loss of the season?
I get their defense didn't play well toda but usf was 9-1 with a great QB and UCf locked up their undefeated season in this staffs 2nd year. I guess I'd take it.

Answer my question. I think tomorrow is in play but if Scott calls that shot, it won't happen until Scott says it happens.

I dunno what the question is.
You don't need to name the next coach immediately after you fire your current coach.
If it is Frost, and he wants us to wait, we can still have a "coaching search" for a week without announcing frost. Make sense?
Sure there would be speculation but there already is speculation.
You don't hang on to Riley for a week if you know you're going to fire him.

If so, that's kind of crappy for Riley and his staff. Well, his staff anyway. Riley is set for the rest of his life.

Changing subject a bit and not necessarily asking you, but I always thought there was a state law in Nebraska that required a 10 day posting on state employee position before officially filling it. Is that not a thing anymore? If it still is I would think getting rid of Riley as soon as possible would be prudent.

I think that can be waived. And if it can’t, they can announce the hire and then wait to sign the paperwork. I doubt it’ll be an issue.

What? Plano.....you really think Scott, or any unnamed coach is calling the shots on the firing of Riley? I can’t see anyway that’s possible. He may call the shots on the timeline to announce his hiring but like mention previously....these are separate deals
If this announcement goes past today, I’ll be worried it may not happen at all.

You can't go firing him on the sideline like fatass Bielima got done to him.
Give it a day or two.
Yeah, I believe he has already been told. There were lots of tweets coming out from the players and the coaches that were pretty questionable as to what they really meant.

Now that the season is over and if Moos has made up his mind (and, really, how couldn't he have by now?) there is no longer any reason to wait whether he has a new coach already lined up or not. All he would be doing is prolonging the agony for Riley, his staff, the players, and the fans. He needs to cut him lose are say that he's staying.

He needs to be canned tomorrow period! No reason to wait.
Why does it have to happen today? (Saturday)? There is merit to reducing the gap between firing and hiring. The longer the gap the more time recruits have to visit and re-evaluate others. If we can fire one day and announce a hiring a few days later.....rather than a week or two later it makes sense.

As I have said before, I am pretty confident that he has known since the weekend of the Northwestern game. If players knew, he knew.

They didn't need to be told.
Anyone with a brain knows this is over, players coaches everyone.

Yep. Look at all the WRs on twitter. They’re all tweeting about their love for Williams and Williams is responding about ‘figuring it out’ and how ‘he’ll be there for them.’ They all know.
