From Brett McMurphy awhile ago:

"Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said Sooners had 9 student-athletes test positive for COVID after players had a week off from practice."

FWIW, looking at the national media over the last six months, I think McMurphy has done a commendable job. Just facts, good or bad. Very fair.

I'm guessing they had the week off due to their opener being moved back from Aug 29th to Sept 12? ECU has this same situation but are still practicing. 2nd full week of practice, classes started this past Monday on campus and no positives on the team.

Looks like the final verdict might come down to whether the players and students on campus have a higher or lower incidence of Covid-19 than the players and students not on campus. That will be determined only after the fact.

I want the students to return to school and for football to be played. I do not know which group will fair better with respect to Covid-19.

I think XT is a great example of being better off at school. He is getting the best of care. Because of HIPPA and privacy, we don't know the severity of his Covid case. Maybe his was bad and he has a long recovery ahead.

so you think mcmurphy has done a good job presenting just facts, or....compared to the national media?

I believe McMurphy has largely stuck to facts and presented a lot of information without comment.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for people like Pat Forde and that woke, socialist, Dan Wolken, who shouldn't even be in the industry. Wolken should be writing policy for the Venezuelan government where he would be a great fit.

As opposed to reporting on and writing about sports, Wolken has a greater interest in extreme government intervention, enormously high, crushing taxes on citizens (especially job creators) and social justice issues. That is his right, of course. He's just in the wrong country, obviously.

I wonder if we will get COVID updates from the B10 and PAC 12 this fall.

Why don't you like this? Proves the point that these kids should be on campus playing football....way safer than them being at home without any supervision.

Agreed on McMurphy, definitely one of the good guys that reports actual news and doesn’t push an agenda

Oh it absolutely proves what many of us have thought for some time. But that's not the narrative a lot of people in the regional/national media will take. They're more interested in peddling the absolute worst-case scenario possible unless or until there is a vaccine.

Agree 100%. Definitely doesn’t come across seemingly with an agenda.

Wow. Cris Ard, owner of Tiger Illustrated, thinks that social justice has no place in the United States.

That is not what I said or meant. What I am saying is that Mr. Wolken would rather spend time talking about that - as well as his socialist agenda - than report fairly on sports.

In Mr. Wolken's world, my business would be toast. We are resilient and can and will survive a lot of headwinds but we cannot survive Socialism. If that were to happen, I would sell the business IMMEDIATELY. We have no shot to survive that. None.

We need people with paychecks and we need them to keep most of the money that THEY earn, not have most of the money THEY earn go to the government. That's just fact. We are discretionary spending. Always have been. Always will be, as you well know.

You did say it, although I'll give you benefit of the doubt that you did not mean that.

In your opinion have we ever had a period of socialism in this country? I know we have had periods where the highest income people were paying 90% tax rates (none of them actually paid that but it was their bracket). I just see the term "socialism" tossed around a lot. Obamacare is socialism. Higher taxes are socialist. Medicare is socialism. Biden is socialist. Am curious what it in your opinion equates to true socialism.

I have a solution .. don't read the guy. I sure don't. Same with watching ESPN. I have learned that the so called experts are just as ignorant, if not more so, than us common folks. I come here to get the information I really care about.

I don’t believe you’re that obtuse. Clearly Ard is indicating Wolken’s love of all things Marxist shows he’s probably not “home” here.
