I’m at the game. We look nothing like this years team. We look exactly like most other pre 2026 NU teams that can’t move the ball, can’t open holes and can’t absorb key injuries on defense while mysteriously MSU who is missing most of their CBs and LBs are shutting us down. I had a feeling I might regret coming. We look completely flat without energy or urgency.
It's pretty simple to me.
This is football. It IS an emotional game regardless of what anyone said before the game.
This game meant a lot to Fitz and Chiles and Braun and everyone that played. Fitz has always been a master motivator. How many "left for dead" NU teams did he will back to great seasons. We all remember the first time we played Utah in a bowl game and that team roared back from dead at the half; he's always had that quality as a coach. It's probably his best quality as a coach. He gets the team up for rivalry games and games that mean a lot.
That MSU team played head and shoulders above how they played other games this year. We were a bit flat in a tough road environment. That's just football.
Our team learned a lot from this win hopefully, and to get a win in a tough setup like this is a great thing. Hopefully, we can carry those lessons forward and dispatch Rutgers easily to get ready for the real meat of the season.
