I didn't know things got this far with Klinsmann before.

The holdup in hiring Klinsmann wasn't MLS not guaranteeing access to players for the Gold Cup and the Copa America. It was Gulati refusing to allow Klinsmann to bring the A team to the Copa America (they did play in the Gold Cup). It wasn't just that the US didn't take any MLS players to South American, they didn't take the European based starters either. But yeah, Klinsmann would have been hired if not for that one sticking point. He wanted the job and said so publicly.</p>

I read today where we aren't being invited to Copa America 2011 because CONMEBOL wasn't too happy with us taking our B team in 2007.

First, I think Bradley deserves a heck of a lot of credit because this team played hard and worked for each other every time out. He actually did a better job with strategy and in-game adjustments than I expected. But, the Ghana game is still stuck in my craw, admittedly in hindsight, because of the line-up he started. And, again in hindsight, I wonder why he wouldn't concede that there wasn't another forward and start Dempsey up top with Altidore and start Feilheiber instead of waiting until the second half - in THREE straight matches!

As for Klinsmann, I've heard/read where some knowledgeable soccer people think he's over-rated and may turn out to be a disaster with a less-talented team like the US. I don't know, just remember reading that somewhere not long ago. Seemed to indicate that he had a talented, well-organized squad in 2006 and didn't really have to do much to get them as far as he did.

Reading that article posted, it almost sounds like Gulati has already made up his mind to fire Bradley. If he does, then why isn't he held accountable too?

The US team that played most of the minutes is still actually quite young, I realized. Donovan and Dempsey may be getting a bit long in the tooth by 2014 and Bocanegra and Cherundlo will be gone probably. But there's still a lot of young talent about to hit their prime. What can I say, I'm an MSU fan so "Wait 'til next year!" is my M.O...
