I have always thought it was ridiculous how the far right and left wings of politics had so much vitriol for each other. As a moderate/Bush Republican, I am pretty much in the middle with the old Clinton Democrats these days... It just seemed silly that the liberals and conservatives hated each other so much, because I could always see merit in both arguments.

Well I owe you all an apology. Both sides. I have always looked at the political spectrum as a line... I was wrong, it's a circle. Turns out you can't help but to despise someone on the other side of the circle. I never knew this until I found Spectre. I now understand...

I actually used to think this 5-6 years ago when I was a normie conservative. But it's not accurate. Fascism and Communism are completely opposite from one another. Remember it was Wall Street that funded the Bolshevik Revolution. Modern conservative and liberal politics are just packages of "safe" ideas to organize team red and team blue against each other rather than focus on their real enemy. Communism and capitalism are both forms of control over the masses that result in the destruction of all things that we as higher beings hold sacred: family, tradition, religion, community, etc.

Well. It's settled. You should be the first person to colonize Mars. When's your flight?

I am usually just a hair right of center, as are the majority of people. The problem is that the folks with the media power live on the extreme left or right and try to make you feel like you are an idiot for not accepting their salvation.

The country would be better off to drop basically everything past “Left” and “Right” on the circle. There are basically no voices beyond those point on the national political landscape. The overwhelming majority of Americans are only slightly apart on the spectrum, but it feels like a gulf.

Biden is arguably the most progressive candidate in US history. If implemented, his tax policy would raise the highest household income tax percentage from 37% to 39.6%. The difference between socialism and capitalism is not 2.9%.

I think most Americans are just left of center. I don’t believe Republicans have won a popular vote for President this century.

I understand that isn’t how we elect presidents, but if you’re wanting to measure the political temperature of the country, it seems like a valuable data point. Especially when you consider conservatives tend to vote at a slightly higher clip than liberals.

You are possibly correct here but we still haven't had an election of registered, alive voters who only got to vote once, so I can't say which way a legal count of actual voters would go. Not to mention that the higher populated cities are overwhelmingly liberal.

And just so you don't I'm being critical of liberals, I sure that repubs fudge numbers as well, I do know the difference between a liberal and a leftist and and I actually agree with the liberal opinion of multiple topics.

I really wish we had a third party. However, until political ads are free and equally distributed it will always be swayed by who spends the most money in the majority of elections.

I was with you for a minute

But you lost me about half way through. I agree that most elected officials in “team red” or “team blue” probably don’t care at all about the people they represent and only vote for certain ideas because that is what gets them elected. They would gladly switch sides if it meant they kept getting elected. But please explain your stance on the “real enemy”? Who is that and why are they the enemy? Please refrain from just spouting angry rhetoric In your answers. I think that is where any legitimate points you are making get lost. You’ve clearly done a lot of reading/thinking about this stuff, please lay out your reasoning. Also, you don’t want communism or capitalism? Realistically, what system do you see working? I understand there are flaws with both systems, but I think capitalism is the best option. Also, under every government there has ever been, capitalism always finds a way to exist, always will. You seem to hate every form of government, but there has to be one. Unless you want anarchy, which won’t last long and leads into government.

The political majority of the country ticks ever so slightly to left of center and to the right of center every 5 or 6 years.

Grace and class are great but when your policies suck, you suck as president.

I’m not a Bill Clinton fan but in hindsight he had good policies.

“Don’t ask don’t tell” being one of them. Simple and logical and it worked. But the extremes on both sides lost it.
