I’m Waiting

I’m waiting for the game where the stars align and the Nebraska Offense, Defense, and Special Teams play lights out and beats a superior team nobody expected them to.

I’m not saying it will happen this year but I’ve watched a lot of College Football and it’s happened alot for other teams, just not for NU. It’s happened against us a few times over the years (at Texas 1999 or against Iowa State at home in 2009 are two that come to mind). Why can’t a team come in here and have fumbling spree like we did against Texas?

Nothing would make me happier than to see the big red take down the rest of their opponents left on the schedule.. go to a bowl game and win it.. would be huge for the team next year

The last 20 years have been nothing but hope and disappointment. Don't hold your breath.

I'm waiting for when we play like we used to and it didn't matter how the other guys played, we just beat the snot out of them anyway.

Im sure every 4-5 teams says this, but we have good talent. We have had what 3 of our losses within a TD. This is a mentality thing not a talent thing. All it takes is that switch to flip and this team could win out. Iowa, Wisc, and Maryland are not world beater teams like Ohio St. We have more talent than all of them. We just have to get that talent to work together and for a whole game.

That is the ideal situation but we’re clearly not there. I’m just saying it would be nice to see us as an underdog take a team down. It would be great if it were Wisconsin or Iowa this year!

That can happen on O and maybe D, but you can forget about a great special teams game. I would be happy with a few touchbacks and great punt/kick coverage.

With the way they have recruited OL, QB, and RB lately I think good things are on the horizon

Yup. When we kicked *** was when we kicked each other’s *** in practice and the weightroom. Saturdays were the easy part. I’m sure that the coaches make them go hard, but the players need to thrive on it and want more. No, this isn’t “double-Nickle.”

I'd settle for 2 of the 3. I'm not greedy

I'd be happy at this point if all 3 phases just played a little above average all in the same game.

Or find guys with talent who also have great intangibles.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard, and especially when the talent isn't nearly as talented as they think they are.
