not with NU football but done with thinking we will have any national relevance. Those days are long gone! I think Scott will do fine here with an occasional B1G championship appearance, every five years or so. I don’t believe we’ll ever be in the same level as Ohio State, Bama, Clemson or even OU. NU has fallen down an impossible hill to climb back up. We are the new Iowa! 8-4, 7-5, 6-6, 5-7, rinse and repeat. Acceptance is the first step!

Reality is, for us to potentially win the Big 10, we’re provably 4-5 years away. We’re probably 3 years away from overtaking the top spot in the West. We’re the bottom feeders now but as Frost said, it can only go up. Let’s enjoy the 5 games on the schedule that we stand a chance to win. As for the other games, let’s try to get through them without any injuries and hope we don’t get selected to play on national television

That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. We've got a long, long ways to go.

Why do you think this board cares that you’ve given up on this team?

Seriously, why post this? Honestly, I would be embarrassed to post this ‘enlightened’ crap.

Bama, Clemson, OU all fell on seriously hard times before they hired the right coach and got back to the top. I remember feeling sorry for OU on several Thanksgiving Day games in the 90’s. If Frost is the right guy, we will get back.
I went to several OU and OSU games against Nebraska in the 90s. I saw the half empty stadium's and the putrid products they put on the field. Things change for the better when you make the right moves. We need to be patient.

These are the kinds of posters that paid lip service to the idea of HCSF but aren't "bought in". Much like some of the players. The ones that know we have to rebuild but will allow no time to rebuild. It is ok guys, just say you are done with HCSF or never onboard. I don't get this thing of thinking the sky is falling 8 months and 3 games into a drastic staff change. I worry about the sanity of some of you.

Just being a realist! Again, I’ll always root for NU til the day I die. I just am looking at things from a new perspective. I’m 50 years old and been to dozens and dozens of home and away games. Was in Tempe when we destroyed Florida in 95. Been through the 80’s of never being able to get past OU. I’ve seen it all and the last 20 years has humbled me. Now I just watch, root and go about the rest of my day.

It's going to take some time. Be patient. SF inherited a dumpster fire. He is still working on putting it out.

Even 4th in the big 10 wins 9 games a year. Even with T.O we only played for national titles every 7-10 years...and we could sneeze and be in the orange bowl and get whooped. I expect the same from Frost...play for a title every 10 years...have a chance at a BCS game every 5 years. Win 9 games every year. If Bo had competed in big games and not abused the fan base he would still be coaching here.

Again, I question the rationale behind sharing this post. Are you looking for others to pay you on the back and congratulate you for your new-found enlightenment? Cuz I don’t think you’re gonna get it...

I would agree, we are and have been below Iowa for a few years. The difference is they are happy with Ferentz, who is slightly above 500 in B1G play, and they will likely bring in his son, who is about the same. Nebraska has stumbled with hires - but has demonstrated it will continue to search until it finds a champion. Pelini delivered consecutive seasons that would have earned Ferentz three more pay raises and extensions, we fired him because we expect more.

We must taste the bitter before we can appreciate the sweet. But it will be sweet. Hang in there.
