No one around likes hockey or even knows hockey, everyone around here loves basketball.I firmly believe that the only kind of pro team that could ever make it in Louisville would be an NHL team and that is still very unlikely with the population.
NBA? - this is college basketball country, not big enough market
NFL? Bengals, Colts
MLB? Reds country except for a few outlier Cubs and Cards fans (no offense).
Hockey is different, can be exciting and there would be several natural rivals.
I never really watch it but it is an exciting, intense game. Lots of fisticuffs. My only problem with it is seeing the puck.
Word is behind the scenes the works are not for the Yum Center as Louisville will be too much of a road block but rather a 100 million dollar remodel of Freedom Hall to give a team their own indenity....if it ever happens.

Here is the question I ask when it comes to the NBA in the state. If Kentucky, Louisville, and the NBA team all played at the same time, and you had tickets to each, which game would you go see.if a team ended up in Louisville would there be a high chance of a DL team in Lexington? If so how do you think that could affect recruiting and the fambase???
That is one of the reasons I push for the NBA to go to Cincinnati. They already have NFL, MLB, might as well give them the NBA.I firmly believe that the only kind of pro team that could ever make it in Louisville would be an NHL team and that is still very unlikely with the population.

I think bringing the NBA to Louisville and spending millions renovating Freedom Hall would be not be a good financial decision for the city. Can't believe an NBA owner would even be open to it.
I thought the overriding purpose of bringing a team in was to save the YUM from financial demise. Can't see how this would make sense. You would be surprised at the behind the scenes talks going on right now
The behind the scenes look is from the talking heads trying to get a team to Louisville. You would be surprised at the behind the scenes talks going on right now

The NBA has already said there will be no expansion for several years. If I were a betting man, my thoughts would be Seattle #1, Vegas #2, Mexico City #3, .......#89 any where in Kentucky.
So this means, you have no information but everyone else is wrong. You are wrong. I will leave it at that

It would be in Cincinnati if the wanted it there. If ky gets a nba team i think it would be in n ky area instead of duhvill. the riverfront area on both sides of the ohio is already an entertainment attraction with casinos, thoroughbred tracks, plus reds and bengals, and nearly equidistant from lexington, lavill and columbus. jmo
They are state funded entity, they wont have a choice.louisville will never get an NBA team. U of L won't allow it, ricky won't allow it. they would rather see the chicken bucket got under before letting someone come in that could over shadow U of L
the city has a horrible agreement with U of L that basically won't allow for anything non u of L basketball related. they get 100% access the day before, the day of and the day after every home game for men's and women's basketball. the city comity that made/makes the deals between the city and U of L are loaded with U of L alum, so it ended up being U of L setting the rules and screwing the city. They are state funded entity, they wont have a choice.
Yup, I know this. The Yum Center is being audited and lease agreement that makes it impossible for them to have another tenant is in question. Whether we get an NBA team or not, that lease agreement will be amended.the city has a horrible agreement with U of L that basically won't allow for anything non u of L basketball related. they get 100% access the day before, the day of and the day after every home game for men's and women's basketball. the city comity that made/makes the deals between the city and U of L are loaded with U of L alum, so it ended up being U of L setting the rules and screwing the city.
I don't believe any type sports team could compete with UK sports. I don't see it coming and if it does, I believe it will fail.if a team ended up in Louisville would there be a high chance of a DL team in Lexington? If so how do you think that could affect recruiting and the fambase???
Vegas has enough money to buy any franchise. It is more of a matter of do they want it.I either saw something recently scroll across the bottom of the screen on ESPN or seen a headline of an article that said something negative about Las Vegas and the NBA. It mentioned something about money and no arena by someone I believe. Wish I caught exactly what was said. I can't find anything online.
