Blue Horseshoe loves Tennessee. This one will get ugly quick today I am sad to say. I took Tennessee early for business reason at -3 but would still take them at -10 given the amount of losses by the Huskers in bowl prep.

I think it's a sure sign TA is a no go today.
The initial line was half a dozen injuries ago and a non-confirm of TA being out.

I get that.

I also get that gamblers in Vegas are licking their chops at this games, the non-sports fan types that only look at stats & injuries. It's a no brainer for betters and the perfect equation. But unfortunately gambling doesn't always work the way it should.

Call me crazy but I love the huskers today, especially + 10. I just feel it. I never like to take a bet off of a gut feeling but I feel it. People keep looking @ us but fail to realize the Vols are no show pony either. They have not been the same since they lost Hurd. There team is banged up and I believe this Husker team comes in with nothing to lose. I believe everything UT has game planed for against our offense can be thrown out the window. I believe we see a true Langsdorf offense today for the first time @ NU.

I believe we see a ton of short to midrange passes today to suit RF's game style and I think we move the chains on these fellas. I believe we are within at least a TD from the Vols but I also like us to win

Riley has a great record in bowls...this one seems hard to figure out. Tenn is -6 first half line. I do kind of like that.

You make many good points; TA is closer to a 30% passer against top teams - seen some, and its been posted. Fife should be able to beat that by a wide margin; even while rolling off the turnip and corn truck. Could be shocking to have the qb not throw into double+ coverage, instead turning and hitting an open man. ........ The local paper printed U T beat Northwestern 45-6 two bowls ago, was up on Iowa 41-7 early last year and seemingly substituted late, to win 48-28 or some such ( humane ) relaxed result. I may be off a little, but this may have rattled the line; along with the other factors.
GBR + with the above and the history; lets give our guys and COACHES a lot of credit if its close. We want them to just play tough and with pride; results may vary; Blackshirts and those that get it, are building our future.

No TA, JW or NG and it's a home game for Tennessee. I also like what someone said above. Vegas does this to people that don't particularly watch football. That's why it jumped 3.

I agree with Spinner though. My gut feeling is it's going to be a close game.

One more reason to favor the 'dog in any spread, particularly one that has swelled to 10 like this one has, is a falling total. And this game has gone from an open of 61/60.5, to 57! And that's with right at 70% of the $$$'s on the Over (according to SportsInsights.com). Whether it's NU or Peru State, I'll take the big 'dog in that scenario every damn time. I'm sprinkling $50 on the ML, too. Nearly a 3:1 payout.

I really like the Under in our game (buy points if you can .. 59), and a 2T 7pt teaser to NU +17 and Under 64. And if you wanna add a 3rd team .. I love the Over in UNC-Stanford.

I think we throw short-mid to set up the run .. control clock, and win this sum *****, 30-24. It won't be Ryker or Newby yhat wins this, it will be our LB & Secondary play.

I just read on another board that the % of total bets was 75/25 Tennessee earlier today and now it is close to 50/50.

For those that bet Tennessee -3 at the open, now would be a good time to try and middle that bet, if you think Nebraska can keep it within 10.

As I typed that last post, total bets now 52/48 on Nebraska. I would not expect the line to adjust much now

As on Noon ET, 73% of the totals wagers (and 70% of the $$$$) is on the OVER. Spread bets are dead even.

Are you able to elaborate?

Just word from a friend that told me he heard that this morning.

I can't find anything in the injury reports. So I don't know if somebody(s) got in trouble in Nashville or if it's another injury.

But lines don't move 7 points in 3 hours very often, and the starting QB hasn't been practicing since Iowa. So that isn't "news"

Well if any of you bet on Bovada they have prop bets. One of them is over/under on JW catches and yards. Unless they know something different about his knee I'd say that's some pretty easy money on the unders

Red Sea Scrolls has a thread asking if some players are sick with the flu...

I don't have access to see the thread so just a guess if that is what you are talking about above.

I pointed that out to my father in law.

Pretty clueless on ESPNs part.

Tommy will not play unless Fyfe and Dalington are out. Hell, there's a chance a LB will play QB for us today.

We Husker fans might feel like we won The Hot Wing Eating Contest if things go the way that they look this morning. Hope that we have lots of Tums, etc.

Flu or suspensions have to be the reasons why the line has moved from 6 1/2 to 10 points...

Interesting sign of events if so.

Riley does not require the players to get flu shots. They are adults and expected to take care of that on their own.

I've heard some food poisoning is sidelining several guys, but Tennessee is really banged up too. Of course I'd take Tennessee in the depth department right now. As far as qb, I'd rather roll with RF as he's a better passer.

I can't think the last time I bet for or against the Skers. You see this team so much that you see the good and the bad with them and it is tough to get a read on how they will play. If a fella got Tennessee at -3 it makes good sense to hedge the Skers at +10. Even without all of the injuries and guys out a line of 6.5 to 7 for Tennessee seemed about right to me.

His players must get their flu shots on their own time and stay away from people that have the flu or stomach virus. They also must inspect the food they are about to eat to avoid food poisoning. It is called being accountable for your own actions. Winking

Flu shots do nothing to prevent the stomach flu. Two different things completely.

Also, I don't know how we are supposed to inspect food. Look at it? Let's face it- it's winter and the stomach flu is everywhere. My boss was out earlier this week with it.

Tennessee lost to South Carolina and Vanderbilt late in the season, the SEC isn't looking so good so far in bowl games and we are hoping our boys play hard and keep it close? The player's quit at Iowa and if they do that again Riley's seat is going to get warm.
